SUMMARY STATEMENT:

The key responsibility of the Quality Manager is to coordinate and execute strategic objectives in food safety, regulatory and internal compliance, auditing, quality assurance, microbiological testing, in addition to, meeting/exceeding federal, state and local regulatory compliance standards. This includes but is not limited to company quality compliance, continuous improvement processes, ongoing program improvement, product tracking, maintaining quality control samples, accomplishing remarkable audit results and maintaining industry best practices.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Lead, Facilitate, Coach, Mentor, Develop, and Provide Support to Production Team and provide training to production team.
  • KDI R&D leader in working with clients R&D teams.
  • Provide Quality Support to our Dairy Farm Partners.
  • Work directly with Customers’ of KDI and the quality and R&D groups of those clients.
  • Lead to establishing corrective protocol to resolve or correct Key Measure Reports: Right The First Time (RTFT), Consumer Complaints, Audits, KPI’s, etc.
  • Communicate to all Departments and Corporate regarding policies, procedures or changes to procedures, documentation issues, quality issues, and data accuracy.
  • Assist Plant Administrator in analyzing data and charting trends.
  • Budget forecasting for the Quality department.
  • Auditing and Maintaining:
  • Mfg. Procedures, Quality policies, Sanitation programs and policies, Testing Schedule, Laboratory Methods.
  • Calibration Logs and Documentation.
  • Ensuring all policies and specifications are current and if not follow through to get current information.
  • Maintain KDI Procedure Manual.
  • Training Lab Personnel on Micro plating, Swabbing, return of equipment to use etc.
  • Work closely with the Chemical suppliers and assure proper cleaning efficiency of the lines and equipment.
  • Develop and maintain Laboratory Work Instructions.
  • Resource to Plant for Quality issues and project follow-up.
  • Prepare and facilitate some Quality training such as Quality Orientation, GMP’s and HAACP.
  • HACCP/KQS Maintenance.
  • Maintain security and confidentiality of information within the Quality Department.
  • Responsible for a QA technical & compliance system to assure food safety.
  • Evaluating/creating/auditing all programs and policies as needed for full certification according to the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standards.
  • Acts as Recall Manager.
  • Ensures facility compliance to any legal requirements and other applicable regulations.
  • Conducts Food Safety Audits with third party inspectors, USDA, FDA, DFA, County, City and
  • Customer Inspector auditors.
  • Performs internal quality audits in the facility and implement corrective actions based on audit results.
  • Tracks and reports audit results to QA, Operations and Plant Manager.
  • Monitors and supports all Food Safety Program activity (i.e. micro, environmental, foreign material, pest control activity and other) using trend analysis.
  • Responsible for all Food Safety Document control.
  • Responsible for coordinating and documenting Food Safety Training Program.
  • Assists Plant Manager in aligning processes and employee performances.
  • Develop, review and update standard operating procedures.
  • Supports other departments managers in audit projects and corrective actions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS/ABILITIES:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Chemistry or Microbiology preferred.
  • 2‐5 years’ experience in related fields.
  • Strong analytical and computer skills.
  • Detail oriented with excellent follow up skills.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing, HACCP, GMP’s and SSOP’s.
  • Must be flexible and able to juggle multiple competing projects.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $80,000.00 per year
