QUALITY ENGINEER

Location: Plymouth, MI

2nd shift

Job Responsibilities:

  • Planning and execution of the quality concept in accordance with the customer specific requirements and Webasto Standards
  • Work in conjunction with the AQE during the development phase to resolve customer quality issues in the project development phase
  • Initiator and champion of customer 8D reports (root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions)
  • Carry out and document process audits (internal and external) and verify their efficiency
  • Key participant in the alignment of key process documentation (Process Flow, PFMEA, CP, Process sheets, inspection sheets, safe launch checklists, etc...)
  • Owner of the Control Plan
  • Responsible for customer KPI reporting through scorecard management and scorecard prediction
  • Active member of the plant team and the product development team, working with all functional areas to improve and meet customer expectations and demands
  • Responsible for reporting scrap details to plant team and management
  • Responsible for re-validation testing and mitigation of any testing failures
  • Coordination of initial sampling to the customer until the release and planning of re-qualification tests
  • Participation in the QRQC and the owner of the WPS Q-dimensions
  • Creation of product control plan and test instructions
  • Optimization of quality planning processes
  • Early collaboration with the development team and expeditious handover of project from AQE to QE (Note: Expectation that QE owns the process and product when it hits the plant floor)
  • On time and professional handling of customer claims following customer specific requirements and 8D-methodology
  • Creation of timelines for QM tasks
  • Execution of analyses incl. the application of statistical software (e.g. QS Status)
  • Execution of capability and measurement capability studies to ensure that capabilities are given
  • Participation in feasibility commitments, risk-analyses, creation of book of duty and implementation of required processes
  • Coordinate the tasks for creation and collection of documentation for product and process release (PPAP)
  • Tracking of quality targets and initiation of necessary corrective actions
  • Customer PPAP and Re-qualification releases
  • Initiate internal incident reports (8D-reports)
  • Authority to stop production and/or shipments
  • Authority to release production
  • Initiate Deviation Requests
  • Initiate production changes and/or sorts (quality alerts, containments/Q3)

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field Experience in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering or automotive engineering and the core tools (FMEA, Control Plan, PPAP, MSA, APQP, SPC) 2+ years experience in quality assurance in the automotive sector Process and technology knowledge Experience in the application Q-methods and QM-systems Good Knowledge of quality related customer‘s and legal requirements Basic knowledge of product liability law High operational readiness, assertiveness and self-reliance as well as team spirit and good communication skills Ability to work under pressure MS Office Suite and SAP skills Professional behavior in association with customer and suppliers Analytical and structured thinker

Pay: $80,000.00 per year
