Note: The normal starting pay for this position is the minimum of the pay range listed above. A higher rate of pay may be considered, dependent on the qualifications and experience of the selected applicant and/or the City’s step placement policy.

JOB SUMMARY

This classification is located in Water Quality Division of the Utilities Department within the City of Oklahoma City and is under the direction of an immediate supervisor. The Quality Control Coordinator is primarily responsible for ensuring the integrity of information found on departmental mainframe or stand-alone computer systems. The classification also develops, implements, and enforces policies and procedures to ensure the proper maintenance of computer records and information and to deter system or database integrity problems. These duties require knowledge of a specific computer system’s functional design, reporting, and balancing capabilities. Essential job functions include: developing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures to prevent or deter system and database integrity problems; documenting and correcting daily system problems; identifying and detailing the system’s functional deficiencies in written report form and using report findings to recommend policy changes and present management options; and performing various administrative and control transactions, such as assigning and monitoring security code designations, completing report requests, and granting system authorization or access. A Quality Control Coordinator is the primary contact for members of other City departments and work units regarding system problems or requests for information. Work products are subject to review through staff meetings, reports, and observation. Depending on the department, the employee may provide direct, functional, or technical supervision and training to subordinate staff.

VETERANS PREFERENCE

Honorably discharged veterans of the United States Active Duty Armed Forces, National Guard, and Reserve Forces who are not currently employed full-time by the City of Oklahoma City and who meet the qualifications for the position shall be given preference. JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Knowledge of and skill in operating computerized information processing systems.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use basic research principles and practices.
  • Skill in monitoring and maintaining compliance with applicable policies and procedures.
  • Skill in operating a personal computer and applying various software applications.
  • Skill in analyzing and evaluating large amounts of data, reports, procedures, and policies.
  • Skill in effective verbal and written communication.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
  • Ability to apply a general knowledge of an assigned computer system’s operation, design, and business applications.
  • Ability to convey technical information effectively to a variety of individuals.
  • Ability to prepare and present both narrative and statistical reports.
  • Ability to supervise.
  • Ability and willingness to recommend program, procedural, and policy changes based on operational assessments.
  • Willingness to maintain confidentiality.

DEPARTMENTAL PREFERENCES

  • Skill in mathematics.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Primarily indoors in a climate-controlled environment.
  • Occasionally required to work beyond normally scheduled working hours.
  • Subject to occasional local or out-of-town travel to attend meetings, conferences, seminars, etc.
  • Subject to continuous noises at low levels caused by personal computer, computer terminal, telephone, ten-key, keyboard, etc.

Note: Typical City employee working hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. However, working hours vary (may require work to begin before 8:00 a.m. and/or end beyond 5:00 p.m., and/or may require work on weekends and holidays), and are subject to change, based on the duties and location of the position and the business needs of the assigned work unit/department.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Near vision enough to read and prepare various types of written and machine-generated communications.
  • Speech and hearing enough to communicate effectively in person and by telephone.
  • Arm and hand steadiness and finger dexterity enough to operate equipment such as calculators, keyboard, etc.

Pay Method: City employees are required to receive pay electronically, either via direct deposit or pay card.

Background Investigation, Drug Testing, Physical Examination: Upon a conditional offer of employment/acceptance of position, the City of Oklahoma City will conduct a criminal history background check for external applicants. If the position accepted includes a driver license (commercial or non-commercial) Job Requirement, the City of Oklahoma City will obtain a Motor Vehicle Report for internal and external applicants.

If the position accepted is safety sensitive and/or a driving position, internal and external applicants will be provided a copy of the City of Oklahoma City's Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy prior to being directed for a drug test.

If the position accepted includes a lift/push/pull/carry Physical Requirement of 25 pounds and greater, internal and external applicants will be directed for a physical examination.
