What You Will Contribute:

This position is responsible for providing planning and technical direction to ensure effective coordination of Manufacturing, Engineering and Marketing efforts as they affect the quality of products and processes. This includes leading the manufacturing quality team to achieve optimal interface with required business functions. In addition, the manager will serve as a key member of the site leadership team and serve as a key driver of continuous improvement.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Uphold and model safe work practices. Proactively seek opportunities to improve safety.
  • Provide leadership and direction to employees with emphasis on team building meetings and effective communications. Develop an efficient team that is responsive to production requirements and changes.
  • Execute quality planning activities to satisfy defined objectives, goals, customer expectations, and Strategy Deployment process.
  • Review new or proposed changes to product designs and processes for quality requirements, including assurance of product reliability and product safety.
  • Plan the quality measurement and controls for material, processes, and product to provide necessary level of quality at minimum quality-related costs for manufactured or purchased products, sub-assemblies, components or materials. Develop formats for inspection and test instructions, measurement data, and other quality information as needed.
  • Support product development projects with respect to quality standards, inspection and test methods and equipment, supplier needs, drawing and specification clarity and completeness, evaluation of deviations, and drawing changes.
  • Support Marketing and Engineering to establish and define quality standards that address appearance, surface roughness, color, noise, and vibration.
  • Recommend product and process improvements that increase product uniformity and improve characteristics to reduce field failures.
  • Analyze quality information and customer feedback to identify opportunities for adjustment to product design, manufacturing process and equipment, and quality procedures. Follow-up to assure that corrective actions are in place and assess effectiveness.
  • Develop methods and procedures for evaluation of processes and equipment to meet required quality capability. Determine that manufacturing processes have sufficient capability to meet quality requirements.
  • Provide for disposition of non-conforming purchased products in a timely, economical manner and assure the proper containment action is taken. Maintain appropriate supplier performance and component history and records.
  • Maintain program for calibration and maintenance of measurement equipment and systems. Determine adequacy of equipment through statistical analysis (G,R&R & MSA)
  • Apply motivation techniques to foster a productive workforce. Assure compliance with fair, equitable treatment of employees through consistent application of company policies and programs.
  • Participate in performance management process to include evaluation of employee performance and recommendation of merit increases.
  • Develop and conduct quality orientation programs for all company personnel to ensure understanding of quality objectives, programs, plans and techniques.
  • Train appropriate personnel in technical quality skills and structured problem solving techniques, 5 why’s, 8D. Conduct training and orientation programs as appropriate.
  • Audit and determine that prescribed plans and programs are being followed. Obtain appropriate corrective action where required.
  • Provide analyses of internal quality-related issues and communicate the situations to affected departments.
Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Quality Management, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 or more years of experience leading and motivating a team of employees.
  • Minimum of 5 or more years of Quality Management experience with knowledge in Quality Systems (ISO 9001, AS 9100, ISO 17025).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proven leadership skills across multiple levels of an organization. Uses leadership abilities to engage, inspire, and motivate others. Demonstrated success in leading teams.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Strong statistical background is also needed (Minitab experience a plus).
  • Self-motivated to identify, analyze, and independently implement solutions to resolve issues.
  • Resourcefulness in accomplishing objectives and completing tasks. Demonstrated success in a multi-tasking, fast-changing environment.
  • Proven ability to develop talent through proactive coaching and mentoring to grow individual and organization competency. Drive effective succession planning efforts.
  • Demonstrated problem solving and conflict resolution skills to quickly and effectively resolve conflict.
  • Possesses and acts with a high degree of integrity at all times
