Job Summary: To split down packages of yarn for QA analysis (color consistency throughout package).

Tools and Equipment used: Scissors, Knotter, Apron, Small Baskets, Buggy

Essential Functions:

• Walk to location in Dyehouse and obtain packages to be broken down, place in a buggy.

• Scan individual lots in SAP to ?Waiting Approval?.

• Pre-Clip yarn in 3 sections, first clip is approx. ? inch from the outside of the dye package, the second clip is in the middle and the third is ? of an inch from the dye tube.

• Print Yarn Type, PO#, F-# on 3 white stickers, Sticker one will be noted as outside, sticker two will be noted as Middle and sticker three will be noted as Inside. Pull the label off and place inside 3 tubes as outlined above.

• Start winder and allow it to run until it reaches the 1st clip, this will be the outside retain sample of the breakdown process labeled outside, Repeat above process and label as middle, and the same repeated process for the inside retain sample.

• Start knitter and allow it to run for approx. 2 inches, stop the machine and tie in the middle portion of the package, allow it to run for app. 2 inches and repeat this process for the outside portion of the package. ( Note as breakdowns are tied in, use a permanent marker to identify the portions I,M,O.) Then proceed to the next lot to be knitted.

• Make sample skein from the middle of the package for color analysis.

• Report knitter making bad knittings to fixer.

• Report spindles making bad yarn to the fixer.

• Report suspect yarn to department supervisor/manager. (Examples = wet, crocking, harsh etc.)

• Make the following quality checks:

• Check both ends of tubes for overlaps.

• Make sure the cone has the correct identification label.

• Make sure the package is not too soft.

• Organize all test data and mount to QA #1 form and place in the appropriate folder in QA for the Lab manager to review.

• Make the following quality checks:

• Inspect all knitters to ensure they are producing quality knittings.

• Make sure knitting has the correct identification label.

• Report all streaked appearances to the shift supervisor.

• Perform other duties as assigned.
