Job Summary This position ‘s primary responsibilities include general Purchasing Department policy administration, general reporting of all purchasing department activities, evaluating and auditing potential and current suppliers for new or current model activity.

Essential Functions
  • Procures new model parts and material to support new model launch.
  • Develops local supplier base through new model part approval.
  • Negotiates supplier cost reduction for mass production suppliers.
  • Maintains and issues monthly reports on cost down results for mass production.
  • Submits and evaluates RFQ’s.
  • Tracks supplier event schedules and coordinates with supplier.
  • Represents Purchasing department on various cross functional teams.
  • Evaluates current and potential vendors via system audits.
  • Creates and tracks special trial event orders for customer events.
  • Contacts suppliers for design changes and cost downs.
  • Prepares monthly supplier performance reports.
  • Performs supplier risk management.
  • Japanese speaking is a plus but not required.
  • Performs other duties as needed or assigned.

  • Interacts with co-workers, customers, outside vendors and government officials.
  • Maintains a clean working environment.
  • Continuously seeks to improve processes and procedures.
  • Promotes a safe working environment for all associates.

Requirements
Education: Preference will be given to candidates with Bachelor Degree but is not necessarily required.

Experience: Minimum 1-3 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment; automotive preferred and knowledge of custom trade compliance (Mod Act) desired.

Skills: Position requires proficiency in Microsoft Excel, competency in all Microsoft Office Suite applications, good interpersonal, time management, communication and organizational skills as well as the ability to multi-task and work in a team environment

Working Conditions: The position requires the ability to work in a climate controlled office, walk on concrete floors, lift up to 30 pounds, perform repetitive keystrokes on a continual basis and occasionally bend, kneel, twist and reach.

Travel: This position requires occasional travel. A valid driver's license is required for use of the company car.
