We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a Purchasing Agent within our Purchasing team to help support our PHC business. Over the last 45 years, PHC has built a reputation as a world-class hydraulic cylinder manufacturer through our superior quality control and innovation. PHC is a leading supplier of hydraulic cylinders for material handling, construction, agriculture, and transportation markets. If you join our team, your work will ensure customers across the world have high-quality products they can use to keep their businesses running.


As a Purchasing Agent you will have the opportunity to be a part of the supply chain strategy which would involve traveling to visit customers and suppliers. Your contributions will have a direct impact on the business by continuously assessing and improving purchasing processes by reviewing standards, costs, and supplier feedback.. The team you will be working with is supportive, diligent, and collaborative, and values challenging work and dedication.

So, what will you be doing as a Purchasing Agent?

  • Maintain and manage MRP processing and planning systems
  • Tactical purchasing of materials and components based on MRP output
  • Strategic sourcing from LCC suppliers
  • Monitor and track material costs for purchased goods
  • Coordinate logistics activities of inbound materials with freight carriers and receiving department.
  • Monitor and report supplier performance monthly
  • Maintain and enhance relationships with suppliers
  • Ensure ISO procedures are followed and kept current
  • Continuously assess and improve purchasing processes by reviewing standards, costs, and supplier feedback.

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

  • Minimum 5 years of purchasing experience preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong excel skills and analytical competence
  • Proficient in a working ERP environment and understanding MRP
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Organized and able to effectively manage multiple tasks with appropriate prioritization
  • Some travel required

Things we consider a plus

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or equivalent
