ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (others may be assigned):
Maintains thorough knowledge of all processes and equipment.
Reports any process and equipment problems, and calls the Maintenance Supervisor on evenings and weekends for assistance with problems.
Responsible for all processes, equipment, employees, safety, and housekeeping of the areas and meeting production quality and efficiency standards.
Determine when dies need sharpening and repair.
Requisitions tools, equipment, and supplies.
Maintains a clean and safe work environment. Maintains compliance with established policies and procedures.
Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase the efficiency of the work crew
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Each employee is responsible for helping UMP attain the objectives stated in the EMS Policy and Quality Policy through sound judgment and environmental responsibility. In addition, employees may be required to play active roles in the day-to-day operation of individual EMS programs, Quality Procedures, and work instructions. Additional roles and responsibilities will be outlined in the specific EMS programs located in the Environmental Management database and in the Quality Work Instructions and Procedures which can also be found in Lotus Notes Databases.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
Extensive experience in the use of measuring equipment (micrometers, calipers, gauges)
Math skills required; experience in blueprint reading.
Requires extensive knowledge of machine parts and tooling and surface grinder.
Common sense
Good attendance record is required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or GED
SPECIFIC SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS
Ability to interpret and read blueprints and other required documents.
Ability to manage and complete multiple tasks
Good communication and conflict-resolution skills are required.
Accuracy and detail orientations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

High mental and visual effort required
Frequent contact with machine oils and possible sharp edges of parts and/or materials.
Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; finger dexterity, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
The position involves frequent lifting of up to 30 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
