JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary:
This position will provide behavioral health services within an outpatient clinical setting. The psychiatrist assumes the responsibility of providing comprehensive care including consultative services as deemed necessary. They will be required to participate as part of the on-call team which will be arranged so that appropriate coverage is available 24-hours a day. The quality of care will be in keeping with the standards of the appropriate national organization. The psychiatrist shall be responsible for maintain current medical, diagnostic, and therapeutic acumen. High moral character, ethics, and conduct are compulsory. Support, mentoring, and oversight of Advanced Practice Providers and Novice Psychiatrists is an expectation.
Essential Functions:

  • Conducts psychiatric evaluations for referred clients to meet clinical and/or administrative requirements
  • Evaluates referred clients for medication management and provides prescriptions for medication when appropriate
  • Reviews and signs treatment plans, treatment plan reviews, and other similar documents for assigned clients as required by regulatory rules or third-party insurers
  • Performs and documents AIMS evaluations on clients at a minimum of every six months when indicated
  • Initiates Baker Act involuntary treatment documents and facilitates admission to an appropriate inpatient facility when indicated
  • Conducts psychiatric disability determination evaluation (SSI) for referred clients and prepares required reports
  • Provides consultation to staff regarding client diagnosis and treatment, treatment program development, referral options, and other similar topics
  • Provides staff training as mutually agreed and time permits and supervises residents, medical students, APRN’s, and PA’s
  • Reviews medical history and physical exam and diagnostic testing reports, and refers clients for follow-up medical care when indicated
  • Consults with other physicians and other clinical staff, as needed, to facilitate effective client care.

Minimum Qualifications: (Experience/Skills/Abilities/Education/Certifications)

  • Unrestricted Florida M.D. or D.O. License required
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a outpatient Psychiatric setting required
  • Effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills required
  • Proficient with personal computers including Windows, Excel, Word, PowerPoint required
  • Experience working within an Electronic Health Record system (Athena preferred)
  • Board Certified required

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk, often for prolonged periods; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and see, speak, and hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment:

  • General Medical Office/Clinic Travel between service sites may be required
