Job Description


Danfoss Turbocor Compressors Inc, a leading-edge technology company in Tallahassee, Florida, is looking for a Prototype Technician in the R&D Department with a desire to excel in a technically challenging environment. The hours for this position are Monday – Friday 7:00 am – 3:30 pm. Candidates will be responsible for building prototype compressors and modifying prototype parts. This candidate must be able to detect and communicate technical details of prototype builds to R&D team as feedback for design improvements.


Our products are high speed, oil-free HVAC compressors using magnetic bearings, variable speed direct drive and digital control technologies. The Production Technician will be responsible for mass-production of varying models of oil-free compressors by performing and participating in component parts preparation and line assembly operations.

Job Responsibilities


  • Build prototype compressors and/or components from engineering models and other design documents, to support research, product development, and sustaining in an engineering group
  • Perform compressor tear down after testing
  • Generate supporting documents that can help explain why the compressor behaves in a certain way
  • Provide prototype build feedback including assembly process, improvement suggestions
  • Design and build prototype harness/assembly and electrical power panel/enclosure
  • Use simple machine tools to make or modify prototype parts
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean, safe and orderly workplace
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

    • Experience in electrical, mechanical, and/or manufacturing practices
    • Associate Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Ability to read, interpret, and create mechanical drawings and electrical schematics
    • Proficient with lab equipment: Digital Multimeter and Oscilloscope, etc.
    • Skilled with product assembly and hands-on fabrication parts, using a variety of hand and power tools
    • Ability to manage tasks and time in an efficient manner
    • Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and Power Point
