The Office of Property Valuation has an opening for a Property Assessment Coordinator in the Division of Local Support, Northern Field Branch. We are seeking a highly motivated individual who has the ability to communicate clearly and concisely to elected officials, staff, and other managers.

As a Property Assessment Coordinator for the Commonwealth of Kentucky, you will provide direct technical assistance to PVAs and local officials to resolve tax matters.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Advise and coordinate with local officials on all matters related to property tax
  • Advise management of legal and administrative problems and issues
  • Appraise or assist in the appraisal of properties as requested by PVA
  • Conduct Sheriff settlements to conclude the state property tax collection process
  • Provide monthly reports to Department of Revenue
  • Travel to various counties as a field representative for the Department of Revenue. Counties include: Madison, Powell, Clark, Jessamine, Garrard and Estill
The successful candidate must possess clear communication skills to work with taxpayers in person or over the telephone and in writing, sometimes in confrontational situations.

Additional / Supplemental information:
  • Must successfully complete a background investigation including an FBI criminal history record check (fingerprint check).
  • Must comply with all tax laws
  • Mostly at a desk using a computer and telephone
  • Some travel for training and education.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in business administration,accounting, engineering, real estate or a related field.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: One year of experience in property assessment or appraisal.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Graduate study in one of the above or related fields will substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Property assessment or appraisal experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Working Conditions
Incumbents working in this job title perform duties in an office setting. Travel is required.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
