Shift: Monday - Friday 8:30a-3:30p

The Project Search Coach provides job coaching and retention services to students with disabilities at an assigned Project Search site. Project Search is a national employment discovery model that The Arc facilitates in partnership with Anne Arundel County Public Schools, DORS and major employers. The Project Search Coach works within an interdisciplinary team of school staff, Project Search site staff, families and other stakeholders. The Project Search Coach will also support job development for students with a focus of every student employed by graduation. The Project Search Coach must meet the qualifications of a direct support professional and complete all trainings. This is a full-time position with a pay rate of $17.25 per hour.

Essential Functions

  • Provide individualized support for students at the host business worksite rotations or competitive job which includes but is not limited to job coaching, building natural supports, identifying job accommodations, assistive technology, etc.
  • Communicate effectively with Project Search Instructor(s), other Project Search staff, employers, co-workers, family members, and school and agency personnel as it relates to students in the program.
  • Work with assigned students to implement their IEP and Project Search plan and provide job coaching, retention and training support.
  • Work with students, employers, families, job placement specialist, agency personnel, affiliate school personnel and other appropriate parties to problem solve issues related to training and employment.
  • Inform Manager of Employer Relations and other interdisciplinary team member’s staff on behavioral and programmatic and person-specific issues that occur.
  • Train students in the areas of grooming, hygiene, communication, interviewing and behavior as they relate to successful employment.
  • Demonstrate positive behavioral management techniques and communicates with students and their families in a person-centered, age appropriate manner.
  • Complete progress notes, daily logs, timesheets, individual planning activities and other documentation thoroughly, accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Facilitate building self-esteem and confidence in those served through positive interactions and building a relationship of trust.
  • When assigned, provide transportation supports to those served; operate an agency vehicle or personal vehicle, safely and efficiently; follow specific regularly scheduled routes and/or responds to requests from management for unscheduled pickups or drop offs; follow all agency driving policies.
  • Adhere to school system, DDA, The Arc CCR and other appropriate policies, procedures and practices.
  • Attends and actively participate in required training, team meetings and supervision meetings.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to sit, walk and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to finger, handle, feel or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to drive is a requirement of the position.
