Description:

This position is responsible for performing work associated with various types of projects within Lee County Utilities. Work may be performed under close supervision of a professional engineer, professional geologist, or administrative supervisor. The work is results oriented and is reviewed through reports and conferences with supervisor.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists in coordination and oversight of well projects, including compliance and permitting with local and state agencies.
  • Coordinates and manages data collection and compilation of both the monitoring network water level data and water quality sampling.
  • Reviews and evaluates Production Well water level, pumping and water quality data.
  • Responsible for supervision and evaluation of the Well Operations tradesworker.
  • Assists managing consultants and contractors in design, permitting and construction of well projects and repairs.
  • Assists in performing failure inspections and troubleshooting of Production Wells, ASR wells, various monitoring wells, and Injection Wells.
  • Coordinates and assists managing repair, rehabilitation and replacement of Production Wells, pumps, and monitoring wells.
  • Assists managing the Aquifer Storage and Recovery (ASR) systems and associated groundwater sampling, mechanical and electrical repair, retrofit and modifications, equipment setup, calibration and capacity testing.
  • Assists managing the Injection Well systems and associated mechanical and electrical repair, retrofit and modifications, equipment setup, and testing.
  • Manages, monitors and coordinates the Well Operations vehicles, workshop, and inventory.

Education, Experience, Licensing

Minimum Requirements:

  • Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Geology, and/or related field.
  • Two years of professional related experience in project/construction management, engineering, public works, or closely related experience.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Possession of an Engineering Intern License issued by the State of Florida is preferred.
  • Possession of a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred.
  • Five years of experience working in engineering, construction, hydrogeology, public works and/or related field.

Supplemental Information

  • Knowledge of water well mechanical and hydraulic systems, well components, well electrical systems, telemetry, SCADA, and water quality sampling procedures.
  • Knowledge of ArcGIS and instrumentation device communication software preferred.
  • One year supervisory experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic engineering and/or hydrogeology principles and practices.
  • Ability to prepare, review, and interpret plans and specifications.
  • Ability to communicate effectively; verbally and in written form with various levels of employees and constituents.
  • Possess customer service skills. Knowledge of construction management.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • The work days and hours for this position are Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
