Description/Job Summary

HydroGeoLogic, Inc. (HGL) has a position open for an Environmental Project Managerto support HGL's growing business with federal clients and state clients such as Montana Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ), State of Utah, the U.S. Air Force (USAF), U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), and U.S. EPA. HGL is a leader in the environmental remediation industry, with over 35 years of experience providing comprehensive engineering and design services by implementing innovative, effective, and sustainable solutions that address environmental, infrastructure, and natural resource management challenges. HGL provides environmental engineering, remediation, and construction services, as well as Military Munitions Response Program support to EPA, U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), USAF, USACE, U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), and other federal and state government clients. This position will be located in HGL's Billings, MT office with potential to work remotely in the following locations: Bozeman, Butte, or Helena.

Responsibilities/Duties

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the technical and administrative aspects of Task Orders for Remedial Investigation/Feasibility Study (RI/FS), Remedial Design/Remedial Action (RD/RA); and third-party oversight projects for multiple locations across the country. Responsibilities and expectations for this position include:

  • Management of CERCLA remedial investigations (RI), feasibility Studies (FS); remedial designs (RD), remedial actions (RA), operations and maintenance (O&M), and/or long-term monitoring (LTM) or RCRA equivalent phases of environmental restoration projects.
  • Ensure exceptional project financial performance and attainment of performance milestones safely and in-line with corporate/customer quality expectations. Ability to direct, manage, and lead project teams to meet project budget and schedule.
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with clients, regulators, project team members, and company management. Ability to successfully execute multiple projects and tasks concurrently.
  • Ability to provide technical and/or management support for a variety of in-house projects. Ability to identify project risks and develop mitigation approaches and strategies.
  • Ability to support business development efforts, including leading or supporting large proposal efforts to include developing site technical approaches, remediation optimization strategies, cost estimates, schedules, and subcontractor scopes of work.
  • Periodic business travel is required. Travel is anticipated to consist of visits to client offices and project sites.

Required Skills

Must be proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, and other MS Office applications.

Preferred Skills

Proficiency in MS Project and MS Power Point is a plus.

Required Experience

  • At least 2-4 years of total experience managing and conducting task orders/projects.
  • Detailed understanding of the CERCLA and RCRA process and requirements for restoration sites.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to include presenting complex subject matter to technical and public audiences. Experience writing work plans and project deliverables.
  • Experience leading project field teams.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with investigation and/or remediation of CERCLA/Superfund impacted sites.
  • Experience with mine reclamation.
  • Experience with high resolution site characterization (HRSC).
  • Solid understanding of screening values and the risk assessment process.
  • Experience with remedial technologies and approaches that can attain performance objectives within the required timeframes.

Required Education

A minimum of a BS in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related environmental field of study.

Preferred Education

Project Management Professional (PMP), Professional Engineer (PE) and/or Professional Geologist (PG) certifications are desirable.
