Job Summary
Are you a civil engineering professional who would like to join an outstanding construction team?
The Project Engineer at Barrett Paving Materials Inc. is primarily responsible for providing primary oversight on assigned field operations and reports to the Project Manager.
Main Responsibilities

  • Read and understand plans and specifications.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs.
  • Perform solicitations to Vendors and Subcontractors.
  • Work on project site to observe progression.
  • Communicate roll out of projects with Project Manager, Superintendent and field personnel.
  • Perform safety requirements and ensure that risks are mitigated.
  • Perform submittals to agencies as the need arises for construction of project.
  • Review and analyze job cost information – verify accurate and complete, address and or correct as necessary.
  • Connect with Project Manager and Superintendent on a regular basis to ensure project issues and concerns are addressed.
  • Review billing quantities from information provided by field personnel and contractual requirements.
  • Provide clear step-by-step directions and answer questions while organizing the project.
  • Able to work and assist others to work in a safe manner within the guidelines of the company’s policies.

Education

  • Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related field or related experience.

Skills

  • Experience in phases of heavy civil construction related to bridge, heavy highway, earthwork and drainage.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Current, valid Driver’s license.
  • Willingness to work nights and weekends if required.
