Position Summary

Partners for Rural Impact (PRI) is a newly formed nonprofit organization that provides deep community support for youth and their families and works to ensure success for young people from cradle to career. Reporting to the Director of Wellness Initiatives, the Project Director (PD) has responsibility for the management of the STOP Violence project; will develop and refine program operations to ensure objectives are met; will ensure the program is in compliance with the federal guidelines; will manage the daily operation of the program through hiring, supervising, training, and guiding staff in the development, implementation, and evaluation of program activities; and will ensure the project is operated in a fiscally prudent manner and in compliance with all fiscal requirements. Additionally, the PD will work with the Kentucky Department of Education, partner districts, evaluators and contractors to implement the data system; ensure the data drives services; and to ensure continuous improvement of services. The Project Director will work to achieve the result All Rural Students Succeed.


Primary duties and responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and management for the STOP Violence project while working collaboratively with other project positions.
  • Build the sustainability and capacity of the trainers for the project.
  • Collaborate with partners on the best practices and findings of the project.
  • Assist with data collection and support the evaluation of the project. Ensure the data drives services; and ensure continuous improvement of services.
  • Manage the federal budget, and ensure that all expenditures are allowable, allocable and reasonable.
  • Write and produce required reports.
  • Develop and refine program operations to ensure objectives are met.
  • Ensure the program is in compliance with federal and OJP guidelines.
  • Manage the daily operation of the program through supervising, training, and guiding staff in the development, implementation, and evaluation of program activities.
  • Ensure the project is operated in a fiscally prudent manner and in compliance with all fiscal requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Kentucky Department of Education, partner districts, evaluators and contractors to implement the data system.

Other roles/duties will be assigned as necessary to assist the School in the attainment of the goals set forth and the enhancement of a positive, respectful learning environment for all staff and students.


Position Location & Schedule

The Project Director will be located primarily in Leslie County Public School District in Hyden, Kentucky but may be considered for hybrid work with local, state, and sometimes national travel required.


Normal business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with in-office and/or hybrid work a possibility. Because of the nature of the responsibility to schools, partners, funders, and to the service region, individual offices or departments may have operating hours that extend beyond this period and may include evening and/or weekend hours.


Minimum Qualifications


Education required to ensure success in this position:


Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred in social services, education, healthcare or other related field.


Experience required to ensure success in this position:


Minimum five years’ experience in program management.


Special skills, knowledge and abilities:

  • Skills and knowledge coordinating a multi-faceted program
  • Demonstrated knowledge in school reform, college and program evaluation
  • Experience working in high-poverty schools providing services to students and families
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills and presentation skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to multi-task
  • Demonstrated experience with federal grants management, including budget responsibility.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and leadership in school reform, college/career readiness, and evaluation.
  • Belief that all students can succeed.
  • Familiarity with the independent school model.

License, certification, or registration necessary:

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Background check, including social media check

Physical requirements:

  • Ability to work within a high energy office all day, ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds; strong verbal presentation skills; able to travel independently.

Environmental conditions:

  • Routine office environment with interruptions and noise due to frequency of visitors, students, staff, faculty, and callers.

Ability to operate the following vehicles or equipment:

  • Standard office equipment – computer, telephone, fax machine, ten-key calculator, copier, etc.
