Overview:
Join AIR as a Project Associate with our Youth, Family, and Community Development program to foster equitable pathways for young people, families, and communities to thrive.

Our research and evaluation and technical assistance work is strengths-based, with a cross-sector approach involving collaboration with programs, providers, and systems. Related projects aim to use culturally responsive science to focus around one or more areas, including but not limited to Child and Youth Development (e.g., social and emotional learning; out-of-school time; youth voice, choice, and leadership; and restorative practices), Public Health (e.g., interpersonal and community violence prevention, mental health promotion, and addressing inequities in social determinants of health), and Advancing Justice (e.g., juvenile justice, re-entry and supports, and thriving youth). In addition to these content areas, the program area houses the AIR Center for Addiction Research and Effective Solutions (a multi-disciplinary center dedicated to preventing and reducing the negative consequences of substance misuse).

Candidates hired for the position may work remotely within the United States (U.S.) or from one of our U.S. office locations.

Responsibilities:
The responsibilities for the position include:
  • Work with the Project Director, Deputy Director, or Task Lead to execute changes and/or updates to the project tasks
  • Develop and maintain standard templates, processes, and workflows, all elements of which shall be consistent with AIR’s best practices and contract requirements
  • Provide support in project planning and implementation by managing, monitoring, and tracking project tasks using standard processes and workflows
  • Providing managerial support (e.g., preparing materials, scheduling meetings, notetaking during meetings, onboarding new staff, creating and maintaining SharePoint sites, working with consultants, budgeting and invoicing)
  • Coordinate data collection activities, trainings, and/or webinars (e.g., coordinating event dates and trainer/presenter assignments and maintaining a primary data collection calendar)
  • Provide administrative support related to the overall project management (e.g., scheduling and tracking participation in data collection, tracking interviewer and trainer/presenter availability, supporting recruitment, and coordinating with contractors providing technological support)
  • Update, prepare, and distribute materials in support of project activities (e.g., training materials, post-event reports, and recruitment materials)
  • Develop and disseminate communications content (e.g., via websites, social media)
  • Support the development of proposal and grant applications, as needed
Qualifications:

Education, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 3 years of related experience in education, social sciences, public health, business administration, or related field
  • Prior training and/or experience in training/event coordination/implementation, technical assistance, and/or study coordination
  • Experience with word processing, spreadsheet, and database software
  • Interest in mission-driven nonprofit work
  • Familiarity with budget development and monitoring - preferred but not required
  • Passionate about topics related to youth, family, and community development (see program area description above), preferred but not required

Skills:

  • Ability and interest in learning and using a variety of online meeting platforms, (e.g., Adobe, WebEx), and website content management systems
  • Commitment to working in a culturally competent work environment that values diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Ability to work independently on detailed assignments
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong project management, judgement, time management, and organizational skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and competing deadlines
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Demonstrated ability to develop collaborative relationships with colleagues, partners, and clients over long distances (virtually)
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work with individuals at all levels and from diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to take initiative and take on new and different responsibilities as needed
  • Flexibility in working with diverse client needs and requests
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Outlook, Power Point, Excel) and with webinar and other virtual meeting technology (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams)

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis. Employment-based visa sponsorship (including H-1B sponsorship) is not available for this position. Depending on project work, qualified candidates may need to meet certain residency requirements.

AIR’s Total Rewards Program, is designed to reward our staff competitively and motivate them to achieve our critical mission. This position offers an anticipated annual salary of $62,000-$68,000. Salary offers are made based on internal equity within the institution and external equity with competitive markets. Please note this is the annual salary range for candidates that are based in the United States.
