The Role: Manages the day-to-day operations of the Food Security program including Meals on Wheels and other contracts and services as developed in accordance with the program’s policy and procedures, strategic plan requirements, and agency guidelines. Responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, and administrative functions for all Food Security and Meals on Wheels services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following list identifies duties of the position. Job responsibilities will be prioritized in consultation with the Director. Other duties may be assigned.

• Coordinates program activities and supervises assigned staff and volunteers.
• Maintains and documents in client files according to policies and procedures and contracts.
• Assists Program Director with information for performance quality improvement, audits, grant narratives, budget development & monitoring, and other reports and stats as needed.
• Manages program development into new service lines within the general food security sector to include contract development, budgeting, spending plan development, reporting and shared service coordination.
• Takes all calls, inquiries, and referrals to program and mails program information and packets and tracks returned applications.
• Provides client assessment and opens new cases ensuring paperwork is complete and in compliance with contractual requirements and agency guidelines.
• Distributes approved educational materials to clients.
• Markets and expands Meals on Wheels program across Pierce County and Southern King County.
• Works with the Program and District Director to further develop program and funding sources.
• Places weekly inventory orders and keeps inventory properly rotated and stored in the freezers.
• Works with assigned staff to fill client orders and ready the day before delivery.
• Fills out Driver's Route Sheet, Charting Sheets, and other paperwork; print map if needed.
• Maintains and updates database and delivery activity.
• Checks and records freezer temperatures at the start of day.
• Maintains and updates orientation and instructional materials to train drivers and volunteers.
• Revises and updates program content based on contract or program changes.
• Presents program information to interested church and community groups.
• Maintains quality and compliance standards per policy and procedures and contracts.
• Ensures that all required documentation is completed in a timely manner and accurate manner per agency procedures and HIPAA standards.
• Functions in accordance with the LCS personnel and administrative practices of the agency including, but not limited to, case record keeping and reporting, service statistics and information gathering.
• Represents the Agency in a professional manner and is a team player.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises program staff and volunteers as assigned. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include: interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Certified Dietary Manager (CDM), CFPP or Registered Dietician (RD) licensing required or candidate must be willing to receive certification/licensing within 1 year from date of hire. 2-3 years of experience in nutrition is preferred; senior nutrition focus preferable. Associates degree in food service management, nutrition, culinary arts or equivalent related experience preferred. Experience working with seniors and volunteers is preferred.
