Utah Valley University is currently seeking a Program Director! Working under supervision of the Center Director, and in collaboration with the Associate Director, the Program Director position will be responsible to coordinate all direct support services for the Center for autism, including Passages transition programs, classes and workshops, and educational coaching. The Program Director will manage student contact and support for Passages and educational coaching, including evening classes. The Program director will liaison with UVU departments, community partners, program participants and their families. Will provide support to Passages faculty and team (including peer mentors), program participants, and their families. Responsible for student outreach, communications, and supports between classes. Will coordinate with appropriate services and supports to manage student issues that may arise. Coordinate weekly team meetings and report on areas of responsibility. Work with Center Director to develop additional programming for transition-aged adults with autism.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • (50%) Oversees day to day operation of the Passages programs, including educational coaching, and supports staff with a variety of Passages activities, projects, and programs.
  • (10%) Responsible for coordination of Saturday activities and student contact and classroom support during evening classes. Will liaison with UVU departments, community partners, program participants and their families.
  • (20%) Will provide back up support in classroom setting to Passages faculty and team, and program participants and their families.
  • (10%) Manage student outreach and communications and supports between classes. Run weekly Passages Team meetings and report on areas of responsibility.
  • (10%) Work with Center for Autism Director and Associate Director to expand existing programs and develop new programs to support transition-aged adults with autism.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited institution with bachelor's and a master's degree, both in special education, psychology, or related fields, and two years of experience directly related to the Summary of Duties, especially working with Autistic adults; OR a bachelor's degree plus four years of directly related experience AND/OR any combination of education and/or experience directly related to the fields listed above totaling eight years.

Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of autism spectrum disorder.
  • Knowledge of empirically supported strategies to build skills for independence.
  • Knowledge of and participation in consulting techniques, public speaking, teaching, presentations, etc.
  • Knowledge of UVU and community resources to support adults with ASD.
  • Skill in typing and computer proficiency in PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.
  • Ability to present to small and large groups.
  • Ability to represent the Melisa Nellesen Center for Autism in a professional and pleasant manner.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instruction will little supervision.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with people from various backgrounds.
