Summary:
New York Edge is seeking a Part-Time Program Coordinator who will assist in the overall administration of the Champions Club After-School Program under the supervision of the After School Program Director including but not limited to: curriculum development, training, implementation of enrichment activities, theme based projects, scheduling of activities, daily supervision of staff, record keeping and reporting, communicating with parents and organizing special events. The Program Coordinator covers the site in the absence of ASPD under the supervision of the Program Manager.

Essential Job Functions:

Directly responsible for overall supervision of staff and academic component of after-school program -
Prepare alternative activities to implement during homework sessions that complement the academic session

Provide a seamless day that aligns homework sessions with day school standards of learning

Responsible for leading trips off site and supervising students and staff for the duration of entire outing

Encourage and lead projects that foster academic, cultural and artistic growth

Provide coverage for activity specialists

Promote the concepts of teamwork, fair play and sportsmanship inclusive of ultimate responsibility for the behavior of youth at the site and on trips

Communicate program’s challenges, progress and success with After-School Program Director, will perform projects assigned at the discretion of the After-School Program Director

Ensures the Afterschool program is compliant with all DYCD, DOE and DOHMH regulations, timelines and staying abreast of all local, state and federal pandemic management conditions and requirements.
Required Skills:

Able to work late afternoons and/or evenings. After-School hours can span from 2:50pm-6:50pm, with most programs running from 3pm-6pm

Knowledgeable and skilled in Academics, Sports or Arts programs and have prior experience successfully teaching and instructing youth in Academics, Sports or Arts
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Some college credits in Education, Psychology, or Social Work are highly preferred.

2-3 years of experience working in a youth development or educational setting.

Must have passion for New York Edge mission and demonstrated interest in the field of education and youth development.

Must be completely vaccinated against the Covid-19 virus. Proof of vaccination will be requested before job offers are extended.
The Part-Time Program Coordinator will be required to report to the school building and interact with staff, students, parents and school administration while following DOH Covid-19 guidelines such as wearing PPE and remaining socially distant.
At time of offer and acceptance, the job requires safety and security clearances through the Department of Education and Department of Health.
