We are looking for experienced Production Supervisors with excellent leadership skills and ability to develop and manage a book manufacturing department! Come join our talented team! Multiple positions open in Bindery, Folding and Cover areas.

Our Production Supervisors are responsible for directing and coordinating assigned departmental operations within the plant. Responsibilities include meeting plant objectives for quality, quantity, cost and delivery. The supervisors control the area’s schedule, quality control, allocation of materials and equipment. He/she is responsible for the planning and implementation of the safety program for the area, and is responsible for the training of employees in his/her area to include Hazardous Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) to include emergency spill response procedures, if appropriate. These Supervisors sets area production and performance goals, organizes work, and maintains a productive and motivational climate.

Incumbents could be asked to work and assist in different department areas across the Plant, to provide support, learn and train as needed.

They support and partner with continuous improvement engineers to drive process improvement and safety goals to full maximization.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • BA degree in Business, Manufacturing, and/or related field, or valid equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in Production operations & supervision a must.
  • Supervisor experience in a team-based environment.
  • Has demonstrated the ability to lead, train and develop people in a production environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Has served as an effective role model, either internally or externally.
  • Cross-functional communication experience.
  • Strong Safety background and experience developing and executing safety plans.

Preferred:

  • Experience in “made to order” business/manufacturing.
  • Printing experience (Yearbook and/or Commercial).
  • Basic knowledge of 5S methodologies and Lean Manufacturing.
  • Exposure and knowledge of Continuous Improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities:

Supervise the department during assigned shift and direct workflow. Provide training, direction, counseling and support to employees in the department.
Oversee area/department production schedules, quality, materials and equipment, as assigned.
Set production goals and objectives, train and develop a diverse workforce, provide coaching and counseling when necessary and prepare employee performance reviews.
Prepare and monitor budgetary process. Meet department objectives for quality, productivity and cost.
Support 5S and PM for all equipment and systems; ensure employees are properly trained on equipment operation, safety and proper maintenance as applicable.
Participate in and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Supports Safety for the department(s) and ensure that his/her area(s) work within the plant’s Safety procedures and work rules. Conduct operations in a manner that promotes Safety and compliance with OSHA standards.
