Plan, direct, and supervise production and manufacturing activities and employees in accordance with departmental policies, procedures, and standards to achieve established production schedules and KPIs. Assign associates jobs to be performed and provide follow-up during shift to ensure quality, safety, efficiency and on time requirements are met. Communicate with other departments to ensure proper flow of information.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist Plant Manager with day to day production floor operation.
  • Plan daily, weekly, and monthly production work and activities. Review general status of production schedules to ensure they are being met and assign or adjust schedules or associates to balance and expedite work through the production areas. Create work orders and resolve scheduling issues as needed.
  • Direct value-stream leads and manufacturing associates in the execution of their responsibilities to ensure company objectives are being met for producing and shipping quality and quantity of products specified.
  • Participate in operational and organizational planning to meet business needs and profitability growth. Support Policy Deployment, KPI (Key Performance Indicator), and Operational Excellence tasks.
  • Review and analyze reports related to quality, efficiency, equipment utilization, scrap, budget status etc. Make recommendations for improvement.
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and Job Breakdown Sheets (JBS’s) for manufacturing processes, production procedures, and machine operation.
  • Work with Inside Sales team to provide lead times, expedite orders, and answer production-related questions.
  • Take corrective action when necessary to improve overall performance of production areas, including staffing. Develop efficient production processes for new and existing products.
  • Communicate with associates on a regular basis providing guidance, training, mentoring and overall engagement. Discuss ongoing performance and conduct annual performance reviews, merit recommendations, and plans for improvement when necessary.
  • Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives and projects. Incorporate Lean Manufacturing tools and techniques into daily work habits.
  • Develop performance standards and production layouts for product flow through specific operations.
  • Ensure required inventory levels of raw materials and components through the use of Kanban cards, cycle-counting, and other inventory control methods.
  • Oversee and provide on-going training and cross training for associates to ensure they can successfully maintain job quality and performance.
  • Drive a safe, clean and accident free environment, establishing standards and ensuring compliance.
  • Participate in the recruiting, interviewing, and training of new associates.
  • Communicate and collaborate cross functionally to assist in solving operational issues and/or improve efficiencies and processes. Actively lead and participate in root cause corrective action and problem solving. Use data to drive decisions.
  • Effectively communicate company goals and strategic vision.
    • Clearly define and discuss goals and expectations on a daily basis.
    • Facilitate effective communication between shifts.
  • Monitor and approve associate timesheets for payroll.
  • Position is considered a working supervisor and when needed will perform the job of a production associate.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree and / or 3 years minimum of proven manufacturing experience in a leadership role.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, plus strong listening and presentation skills.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group settings.
  • Team Player with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working with ERP and related software.
