Job Summary

This position will provide leadership and overall direction to an operations team, (packaging, line maintenance, materials handling, and processing) including execution of the production schedule, management of planned and unplanned events, performance management (coaching and development), training, administrative responsibilities, budget management, maintenance support, process control coordination, quality assurance, reliability, sanitation, and positive employee/labor relations as it relates to the operation. This position will be required to work within a 24- hr. facility operation.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead Hourly Associate team activities to ensure manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner according to specification.
  • Effectively train, develop, coach, and appraise team members.
  • Develop, monitor, and report on operating measures including general business, quality, safety, operator performance, equipment, etc. Ensure effective results.
  • Coordinate daily scheduling of the crews.
  • Develop, coordinate, and oversee paperwork flow of business processes.

Decision-Making Authority/Accountability Level

This is a management-level position responsible for overseeing hourly non-union employees. This role has responsibility for all direct reports and is highly involved in developing processes and procedures used by operating employees and is also involved with discipline decisions as well as being the first contact for any employee issues. Responsible for the achievement of production goals and meeting production quotas. Exercises, judgment in relation to prioritizing the workflows.

Minimum Core Competencies - Knowledge, Skills:

  • Requires extensive knowledge of operations, processes, and machinery in use and is capable of resolving problems in the production process.
  • Knowledge of general management and business skills as well as HR policies and procedures as required.
  • This position requires sound organizational, interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Responsible for training employees.
  • Must have sound knowledge of computers.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • BS/BA degree in Operations Management, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Food processing and packaging industry experience preferred. Experience in the snacking industry is a plus but not required.
  • Regulatory experience with Federal, State, and local agencies (FDA, OSHA, Department of Health, County Building Agencies, etc.).
  • Proven track record in a continuous improvement environment and or the ability to embrace, learn and develop the skills to continuously improve our processes.
  • Strong communications skills with all levels of the organization. Bilingual a plus.
  • Computer literate with good working knowledge of Word, Excel, and Power Point.
  • Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with all contacts both inside and outside the company.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Regularly required to work around operating equipment, stand, reach, pull, stoop and bend
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit or stand. The employee is frequently required to use their hands and fingers to handle, feel objects, use tools or controls, and climb or balance.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, low levels of toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electric shock and explosives.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. However, some instances of this job may require work in areas where ear protection if necessary.
