Job Summary:

The Production Manager is responsible for leading and managing Production Operations and our team of trained Production Leads and Operators in achieving Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Motivation, and Environmental performance goals

Job Responsibilities & Tasks:

  • Lead Production Supervisors, Leads, Operators in a positive and values-driven work environment
  • Proactively support and maintain collaborative working relationships with all plant departments
  • Establish and maintain a highly effective working knowledge of the individual skills and team capabilities within the Production team
  • Exemplify our values-driven company culture through personal behavior, role modeling, and structuring of aligned goals & objectives and performance metrics for our Production team
  • Deliver measurable results against SMART goals & objectives in critical manufacturing success areas of Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Motivation, and Environment:
  • Safety: Ensure Safety procedures, rules, and expectations are consistently and continuously followed. Investigate and implement corrective action responses to accidents, risks, near miss incidents, etc. in a timely, accurate, and complete manner
  • Quality: Ensure the highest degree of Operator understanding and adherence to properly executed and timely Quality checks to ensure consistent and continuously maintained HACCP, HACQP, GMP, and finished product Quality standards. Foster a culture of Continuous Quality and Food Safety Improvement by finding and developing new or improved Quality methods
  • Cost: Consistently deliver performance goals against reliability, OEE, packaging/ingredient yields/losses, Production supplies
  • Delivery: Provide strategic planning input for weekly production schedules. Consistently attain scheduled production volume and adhere to desired SKU mix. Also, consistently participate in and meet project commitments in completion and timeliness
  • Motivation: Develop the Production organization for optimal performance in collaboration with Human Resources, utilizing our Operator skills leveling and performance appraisal systems, equipping the team with strong problem-solving skills and celebrating successes together
  • Environment: Engage the Production team in delivering recycling efficiency, reducing solid waste, adhering to sanitation expectations and effectiveness
  • Coordinate closely with our Maintenance Department to ensure that Preventive Maintenance, Predictive Maintenance, and Planned Repair activities are in sync with Production plans
  • Manage daily/weekly Payroll administration to ensure accurate and timely labor allocations
  • Provide absence coverage for Production Supervisors and Plant Operations Manager, as needed
  • All other duties as assigned

Position Requirements:

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Operations Management, Food Science, Engineering, or a related field

EXPERIENCE

  • 3 - 5 years of experience as a Production Supervisor in a manufacturing environment
  • At least 1 year or food industry manufacturing experience is strongly preferred
  • At least 1 year of experience using Microsoft Office suite software or similar programs
  • At least 1 year of exposure/use of Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma tools/methodology

  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to communicate proficiently in English verbally and in writing (including email)

PHYSICAL & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able lift at least 40 lbs
  • Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Must be able to walk/stand for an entire shift (8-12 hours)
