JOB PURPOSE:

To direct and coordinate activities in Injection Molding Department for Production through Production Supervisor and subordinates. Responsible for all day-to-day activities related to production injection molding. The following duties may be performed personally or through subordinate reports.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Ensuring all safety and health standards are met to keep organization accident-free
• Motivating, supporting and providing guidance to production staff
• Maintain staff reporting structure (organization chart) to optimize efficiencies and capabilities
• Participate/ Lead daily production meetings and shift-to-shift communication
• Oversee daily production schedule to ensure objectives are met, including secondary operations through subordinates
• Participate in monthly / quarterly production planning/sales meetings as applicable
• Support and facilitate problem solving of production/secondary scheduling issues
• Monitor production efficiencies and productivity of medical molding and non-medical molding areas (production)
• Implement continuous improvement activities to optimize process and increase efficiencies on a tactical or strategic level
• Define resources needed to support production molding for medical and non-medical molding areas
• Review equipment purchases supporting clean room and non-medical molding room activities (production)
• Monitor scrap rates (2% company goal for scrap) and implement corrective / preventive actions
• Monitor and maintain on-time delivery goal of 98%
• Participate in ISO conformity/registration/audits in clean room area and general molding room as required
• Interact with Tooling and Engineering to support customer needs and requirements as needed for production
• Work closely with Quality Assurance Department to support production activities
• Effectively manage subordinates per reporting structure
• Participate/Drive cost reduction opportunities through material selections, process improvements and/or improved setup/planning
• Participate or Lead in 5S – Lean Manufacturing Programs
• Participate in Corrective Actions/Customer Complaints as required
• Work with internal and outside sources to utilize automation and robotics where financially viable
• Strategically assess fleet utilization and draft long term plans for efficiency improvements, growth plans; generate business case for submittal and approval of changes, adjustments, and enhancements to production capability and capacity
• Coordinate the transition of Validation Programs into injection molding manufacturing (Production)
• Ensure all production related personnel are properly trained and capable
• Initiate and manage continual training opportunities for personnel to increase skill set in both medical and general molding room
• Perform annual or merit based reviews for direct reports
• Administer disciplinary actions per company policy and systems
• Participate in annual budgeting and sales forecast activities as required
• Lead Production Supervisor
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS (Education/Experience/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

Required:

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent, or 5-7 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Prior experience in Injection Mold Processing and Lean Manufacturing Disciplines
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret Technical Drawings and technical information documents
• Create technical documents for use in the Injection Molding, other departments, and Apex Customers
• Ability to write and professionally present technical information to small groups
• Should be creative and should possess ability to use modern technology in the manufacturing process
• Familiar with the manufacturing process and concepts that are followed traditionally
• Possess strong computer, mathematical, reading, writing skills
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
• Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical information, electronic data, drawings and data in an efficient manner
• Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs
• Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time
• Must be able to climb up and down stairs

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Support cross functional teams and departments as required
• Perform job duties in accordance to ISO 13485/9001 including ISO audits
• Travel is required to support company initiatives
• Ensure that all safety procedures are followed
• Ensure that all equipment safeties are not altered or defeated
