JOB SUMMARY

  • Under the supervision of the Production Manager, the Hartness Packer and Denester Operator, Line 5 or Line 6, operates and monitors high speed floor machines which place plastic trays on a conveyor, washes the trays, and then fills the trays with bottles on a semi-automatic basis. It then is sent down a conveyor to be palletized.

JOB DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Note: The job functions relate to the job, not the individual)

  • Monitor the Denester, Harness Packer (case packer), and other related production equipment to ensure manufacturing standards are met (i.e. 24 bottles in each case) and to prevent possible malfunctioning.
  • Monitor and ensure a continuous supply of blue trays to the case packer.
  • Observe quality of product and remove any defective bottles from the production line, pick up any tipped bottles prior to the case packer, and ensure clean quality blue trays to the case packer.
  • At the end of the production package calculate and record the number of cases produced, bad bottles, and/or other production defects.
  • Observe the infeed conveyor for tipped bottles and stand upright, prior to the case packer.
  • Use a hand pallet jack to move pallets of blue trays onto a hydraulic lift.
  • Frequently check the water level in the case washer. Also check for clean, hot water.
  • Frequently check bottle codes for legibility and accuracy.
  • Perform light maintenance on the machine as needed.
  • Monitor the radio for the palletizer operator to indicate the palletizer is inoperable. Stop the packer right away.
  • Notify the palletizer operator of any product changes or bad cases going back to them.
  • Follow all clean-up procedures. Comply with all safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Change rolls of plastic as needed.
  • Frequently check bottle codes for accuracy and legibility.
  • Remove the plastic from the pallet of blue trays.
  • When producing 6 packs communicate with the Hi-Cone operator when to start and stop the Hi-Cone machine.

JOB DUTIES/MARGINAL FUNCTIONS (Not fundamental job duties)

  • Sweeping, mopping, and general cleaning when time permits.
  • Hand stacking of cases when the palletizer is inoperable.
  • Contact the lead person for job duties during a package change-over.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Requires basic mathematical and writing skills.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time and remain alert at all times.
  • Must be able to work under minimum supervision.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to perform light maintenance.
  • Consistently report to work on time.
