POSITION SUMMARY
The position title is located in Hazel Park, MI.
In this role, and under direct supervision of the Operations Manager, the Production Control and Logistics Manager will be responsible for managing inventory levels, production speed, and product demand to determine reorder levels, which will ensure product availability and minimize inventory costs. The incumbent will be responsible for the development, implementation, and supervision of the Inventory Transfer System. They will schedule and revise shipment plans to ensure efficient distribution of products.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plans and schedules production to provide a high level of reliable, customer satisfaction.
- Recommends revisions to the company's purchasing policies through the establishment and maintenance of sound Material Purchasing programs and procedures.
- Prepares timely, accurate, and informative reports to provide the immediate supervisor with recommendations, when appropriate, covering all phases and activities of the Materials Department.
- Provides the selection, supervision, and training of departmental employees to ensure that they all are working towards the same objectives.
- Maintains the Lowest Sustainable Inventory (LSI) while providing an adequate level for production schedules and minimizing inventory investment.
- Facilitates production planning using sales forecast.
- Implements improved planning and scheduling techniques to increase productivity and efficiency.
- Ensures timely program launches.
- Improve inventory-tracking systems to ensure accuracy throughout the system.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Engineering or MIS is preferred.
- Knowledge and experience in the use of integrated planning systems.
- 3 years of experience with MRPII/ERP systems including CRP (JDE system preferred).
- APICS Certification is a plus.
- 6 years of experience in manufacturing field.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SAP knowledge a plus.
- Must be self-motivated/directed. Required to determine most, if not all, of own work assignments; both tactical and strategic. Requires minimal management input to achieve objectives.
