RFA Engineering (www.rfamec.com) is seeking a Product Safety and Compliance Engineer to be part of our engineering team at our customer’s facility in Dubuque, Iowa. You will work with our experienced engineering staff and our customer's staff to provide engineering support for off-road equipment using state of the art engineering tools.

This position is on-site at John Deere’s world-class engineering and manufacturing center. These are full time positions that are indefinite in duration with opportunity for professional growth, direct hire by our customer, and opportunity within our own organization.

Responsibilities:

• Liaise with the product lines through Safexpert, attend select design reviews, perform machine walk-arounds, and communicate with the Engineering Manager to ensure that all applicable internal, national, and international standards, regulatory and legal requirements are met in order to enable global market access.
• Advise the product line on PS&C’s interpretation and application of standards and product safety principles to ensure compliance and enterprise consistency.
• Perform product safety and standards compliance analyses and generate a Technical Construction File in preparation for Product Safety Committee approval.
• Participate in external standard development committees to ensure John Deere’s interests are reflected in international and industry standards that affect the Company’s stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain knowledge of industry and technical trends and practices in the area of product safety, standards, regulations, and homologation.
• Willingness to travel up to 5%-25% (both domestic and international) (Travel may include weekends; billable.)
• 100% support would be needed onsite at John Deere Dubuque Works

Desired Skills:

• Engineering Mechanical/Agricultural Degree or Technology Related Field.
• Ability to clearly communicate technical data and project updates through written reports and meeting presentations.
• Desire to learn from others in a global and diverse team environment.
• Knowledge and experience in test and evaluation.
• Design or application experience on mobile machines.
• Exposure to Forestry equipment.
• Effective time management skills.
