Role:

The Product Quality Coordinator’s primary responsibility is to manage non-conforming products in support of Vital Proteins Quality Control program. This role will carry out the company vision and mission as an integral part of the Vital Proteins’ team. Reporting to the Quality Systems Manager, the Product Quality Coordinator will operate out of the Vital Proteins production facility in Franklin Park.

What you will be responsible for:

• Responsible for blocking, tracking, releasing all non-conforming raw materials, semi-finished and finished product at any point from material receipt to sale.
• Reports out detailed information regarding the products that are blocked and released.
• Reports out on performance indicator measures (i.e. KPIs, PPIs, APIs). Escalates any non-conforming trends to the Quality Management.
• Supports traceability exercises, product trace, and recall procedures.
• Supports root cause analysis and provides disposition recommendations for non-conforming product based on investigation findings.
• Report any process errors, product failures, or deviations to Quality Management.
• Understands, implements, teaches, maintains, and reports data from the SAP Quality Management module.
• Manages the Quality module in DMO (Digital Manufacturing Operations).
• Manages block stock and rework/reprocessing documentation to ensure full product traceability.
• Provides non-conforming product release support to contract-manufacturing and 3PLs locations.
• Support compliance to MoC (Management of Change) Program.
• Leads recurring meeting and follow up on open action items relating to Moc (Management of Change) Program.
• Be an expert in the products manufactured as well as their respective allergens and be able provide direction on swabbing and cleaning procedures.
• Serves as a supporting member of the factory Internal Audit Team.
• Supports the Food Safety Team.
• Be an active participant in engaging in and contributing to a safe culture and working environment. Ensure working environment is safe and clean.
• Ensures compliance with all regulatory and Vital Proteins guidelines pertaining to safety, health, and environmental.
• In the absence of this person, the responsibilities of this position are delegated to the Co-Manufacturing Quality Specialist and/or Quality Specialist.
• Other duties as assigned.

Who you are:

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Safety, Engineering, or related technical field preferred
• 2+ years of manufacturing and/or laboratory experience preferred in food, pharma, or dietary supplement industry experience ideally
• Experience with continuous improvement programs preferred
• Strong mathematical and statistical skills required
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to collaborate well with all teams in the Plant
• Ability to thrive in a demanding, fast-paced environment with a high level of attention to detail, while being precise, accurate and well organized
• Ability to prioritize and handle multiple assignments
• Proficiency with computer systems, personal computers, and spreadsheet software (i.e., Microsoft Office)
• Proficiency in SAP systems is preferred
• Can lift 25-50 lbs. on occasion
• Able to work flexible hours
• Must be able to read, write and understand English
