Summary

Lead technical resource for the assigned product line, applying Engineering skills and knowledge to support the product line with Customers and Production and overseeing any required development programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

While maintaining product design integrity, a Product Engineer will:

  • Research, design, develop, plan, implement, maintenance, and support new and existing industrial drivetrain products, throughout their product life cycle, to meet marketing demands for Fit, Form, Function, Cost, & Delivery requirements.
  • Facilitate and/or produce professional, accurate, and effective 2D production drawings, 3D models, Engineering Change Notices, Technical Reports, Failure Analyses, Engineering Specifications, etc...
  • Produce Engineering calculation tools and guidelines as needed to aid the other business departments on complex technical processes.
  • Provide technical support for the development of Installation & Maintenance Manuals, sales literature, brochures, and catalogs, etc...
  • Support the ERP system by entering and maintaining the Item Master and Bills of Material database information with accuracy and discipline.
  • Maintain good communication with other departments to close any information gaps and facilitate the efficient manufacture of products by providing technical support and help for the timely resolution of issues.
  • Be adaptable to changing business conditions and responsive to internal and external customer needs by providing support to Customers, Sales, Marketing, Product Managers, Applications, vendors, Purchasing, Quality, Production, and Accounting, etc...
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Critical Competencies

  • Language Skills – The ability to read and interpret documents such as drawings, general business periodicals, professional journals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, technical and procedure manuals and government regulations. Ability to write routine reports, operating instructions, procedure manuals, and business correspondences. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of employees and managers, customers, clients, and the public.
  • Mathematical Skills - Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to handle employee interaction and grievance with competency and awareness of the employee’s needs and legal guidelines. The ability to assess a situation and make decisions based on the benefits of the plant, the employees, and he production process at the same time. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete and abstract variables to bring about a constructive conclusion.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) from an ABET accredited four-year college or university.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a related industry.
  • Preferred: Working knowledge of ERP systems (SAP), drafting (AutoCAD), and solid modeling (Inventor).
