Position Title: Procurement Specialist

Brief Summary of Position Purpose:
Cleaveland Price is seeking an experienced manufacturing procurement professional for an international materials purchasing/planning position within our purchasing department. The ideal candidate will be capable of scheduling materials for demanding deadlines, negotiating with domestic and international suppliers and placing purchase orders to meet on-time targets. The Procurement Specialist will have sole ownership of all global vendors and vendor relations—assuring clear and concise communication both to manufacturing production, as well as with wholesalers. The position is responsible for the general procurement process, seeking new and potential supplier relationships, placing purchase orders with suppliers, understanding priorities and expediting urgent requirements. May provide day-to-day guidance to others on the team.
Essential Functions:
- Develops and maintains ongoing relationships with current and preferred suppliers, both domestic and international
- Utilize material requirements planning system to understand demand and supply targets
- Works directly with freight forwarders; understands the trends and challenges of freight forwarding for both pricing and capacity
- Negotiates prices, terms and quotations from vendors and suppliers—enters contractual agreements for purchases
- Seeks opportunities through negotiation for better pricing/delivery terms
- Gathers information from historical usage for blanket order contracts
- Maintains relevant information and purchase orders in related computer system(s), including detailed notes for follow-up and expediting for on-time deliveries
- Work with various functions within the company to select suppliers and establish alternative sources of supply
Develop, negotiate, and implement strategies resulting in improved supply chain performance, enhanced product quality, innovative technology, and maximum value
Ensures work practices are compliant with all OSHA and ISO standards
International procurement experience including general knowledge of Import/Export compliance a plus
Analyzing scope of supply and contract agreements, carrying out risk analyses, and introducing negotiation recommendations together with commodity management, to prepare for negotiations with suppliers and to initiate appropriate measures- Identify opportunities for cost savings and communicate internally
Confirms compliance and maintenance of all applicable local and international laws and regulations
Ensures that operational performance improvement is a continuous effort and overall performance meets the needs of our customers
Reduce unplanned accessorial costs by working with production and suppliers- Assures safety stock and inventory level management

- Collaborate with planning and production to resolve shortage issues when escalated, investigate root causes, and develop recovery plans both internally and with suppliers.

- Strong negotiation and influencing skills
- Excellent computer skills (MS Office, Outlook, Syspro, Internet, etc.)
- Drive significant cost savings through network optimization, competitive bidding processes, and direct negotiations
- Driven with capabilities in completing multiple projects with demanding deadlines.
- Primarily responsible for global vendors and vendor relations
Credentials, certifications & Industry-Specific Experience
- BS in business, supply chain management or related field with a minimum of 2 years purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment
- Familiarity with MRP/ERP required. Use of SYSPRO a plus.
- Experience with production/manufacturing preferred
- Knowledge of global sourcing
- Ability to demonstrate required proficiencies/competencies to successfully perform job
- ISM,CPM/CPSM or APICS certification not required but a plus
- Drive significant cost savings through network optimization, competitive bidding processes, and direct negotiations
- International supply chain management
- ISO standards and certifications desirable
Physical Requirements
- Regularly required to sit; occasionally walk, stand, reach and bend; talk, hear and see; use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects; lift, push and pull less than five (5) pounds; occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to 20 pounds
- Requires concentration, accuracy, and focused mental effort with the exceptional ability to present a calm, professional demeanor while multi-tasking in a fast-paced team environment.
- Typical office work environment with exposure to manufacturing plant.
Standard personal protective equipment (PPE) required while on the shop floor or in other work area where mandated (i.e. steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, and/or other applicable PPE).
