Ocean Beauty Seafoods in Dallas in hiring for a Procurement Manager! This position directs the buying team to purchase fresh and frozen seafood products and other products at competitive prices. Procures assigned key products for the Dallas Team.

JOB DUTIES:

• Directs and coordinates activities of Procurement Team to purchase optimal sizes, grades and volumes of fresh and frozen seafoods at competitive price points as needed to maintain satisfactory inventory levels against known or anticipated sales commitments.
• Purchases the highest volume fresh and frozen seafood and other
• Utilizes knowledge in costing of raw materials to the finished state to ascertain required purchase price-points, and to assist the sales force in costing of special projects to meet customer needs. Audits work order costing against purchase analysis weekly to ensure objectives are met and that anticipated profits are attainable.
• Monitors inventory levels of raw and finished products to anticipate purchase times, while seeking to minimize inventory costs and maximize opportunities for profitable purchases. Target for non-fresh products is 1.5 to 2.5 inventory turns monthly
• Hires, trains, reviews and disciplines other Procurement positions.
• Monitors and encourages success and performance of appointed team members
• Works with the Quality Control Department to ensure that products meet customer's quality standards.
• Uses seasonality and market values of all products purchased to maximize opportunities for purchases that generate profits for the company. Assists management in establishing daily price lists. Follows global seafood market, cold storage holdings and catch/production reports.
• Reports on market conditions and changes of all products to management and sales on a weekly basis.
• Provides thorough cost analysis of all position or speculative buys in excess of $50,000.00.
• Establishes reliable vendor base through establishment of buyer qualification procedures. Seeks to maximize vendor base to minimize product shortfall or unwarranted price fluctuations.
• Settles all claims promptly and equitably. Prepares credits and returns of all rejected products and performs related follow-up.
• Follows all company safety policies and procedures.
• Responds to change productively and handles other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum of seven (7) years experience buying and selling fresh and frozen seafoods, including minimum of two (2) years supervisory experience

• Requires a detail-oriented, resourceful self-starter and team player, with global knowledge of fisheries and seasonality.

• Knowledge of intrinsic characteristics of products purchased.

• Must have working knowledge of quality control, production and costing.

• Excellent negotiation and organizational skills, good supervisory skills, sound judgment, and excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

• Ability to deal effectively in a professional manner with executive level management both within and outside the Company.

• Basic word-processing (Word) and spreadsheet (Excel) skills required.

• Ability to prioritize tasks, handle constant interruptions from telephones and staff, and remain flexible to meet changing priorities on a daily basis.

• Must follow through on tasks to completion and adapt well to change.

• Requires established relationships with vendors of a wide variety of fresh and frozen seafood products, and a strong understanding of product seasonality.
