Process Technician Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain process control on all injection molding machines. Ensure that acceptable quality parts are being produced at all times. Make necessary parameter changes within process control limits in order to maintain high quality.
  • Work as part of a small team (2-3 techs per shift) to effectively change molds as required. Average mold change time at Echo is roughly 25 minutes from last piece to first piece. Process Technicians change all the molds at Echo, we do not have setup/die-setter techs.
  • Setup end of arm tooling during mold changes. Will need to learn how to make parameter adjustments to robot programs to allow for efficient start-up after mold change.
  • Start up all jobs. Echo has many different injection molding technologies to work with such as gas-assist molding, 2-shot molding, high cavitation molding, insert automated molding, etc. It is critical that all technicians know how to start up and maintain all technologies throughout the department.
  • Maintain a very clean, organized production facility. Follow standard 5S practices that are set in place. This is a very high priority for Echo as a clean environment ensures that proper safety guidelines and overall equipment effectiveness expectations are able to be met on a daily basis.
  • Document critical process parameters on all molding machines on a daily basis. Similar to QS and ISO control practices.
  • Quickly learn Echo’s complex material handling system and all resins used at Echo.
  • Assist material handlers with material changes and color changes as needed.
  • Be a leader on the production floor by setting a dedicated, efficient, hard-working example for all other employees/groups within the department.

Process Technician Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a setup tech and process tech role is required.
  • Experience with setting up new processes and launching new molds is preferred, but not required.
  • Experience working with gantry-mounted robotics is preferred. This is a core responsibility for Echo process technicians. Echo has Sepro, Yushin, and STAR robots.
  • Experience with robotic programming, even simple pick-and-place position teaching is a plus.
  • In depth understanding of all auxiliary process control and the effects that each piece of equipment has on the molding process/cycle is necessary. This includes knowledge of water flow and temperature, resin drying, shear heat, screw design, etc.
  • Extensive knowledge of processing with glass filled nylon resins is necessary. Echo also uses PP, TPE, TPU, POM, HDPE, LDPE, GFPP, and CFPP resins.
  • Must be a “quick thinker” and be able to memorize multiple facets of Echo’s operation very quickly. Echo has over 600 production molds that run every month, so there is a lot of information and custom applications that need to be remembered in order to support the operation as required.
  • Ability to work in a faced-paced, efficient, accountability driven environment is necessary in order to be successful in this role.
  • Ability to speak Spanish and English is preferred. Ability to read, write, and speak English is required.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs. intermittently. Must be physically capable of the demands of the job on a daily basis.
  • Must be able to multi-task. The process technician role at Echo carries a lot of responsibility on a daily basis. If you like to work hard and take a lot of pride in your performance, then Echo is the place for you to advance in your injection molding career. Advancement opportunities are endless within our injection molding operation.
  • Scientific / RJG molding practices training is a plus, but not required. Echo does not use RJG equipment, but the overall understanding of scientific molding is a critical skill to have in order to efficiently adjust/maintain processes at Echo.

Equal Employment Opportunity:

  • We're proud to be an equal opportunity employer and celebrate our employees' differences, regardless of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, or Veteran status.
