Job Title: Lead Operations Engineer
Reports To: President
Salary: Open based on experience
Travel: Must be willing to travel 50%
Location: Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas or anywhere within 30 minutes of a major airport
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
This position will be an individual contributor responsible for leading plant management process observation, analysis and improvement to specific plant needs in the form of projects. Responsible for observing plant operations, summarizing, and visualizing the plant process with data and evidence. Also, developing insights that will be used for improvement and driving improvement actions for plant optimization and automation results. Using Six Sigma and Lean principles, implement and analyze root cause and identify key process variables and measurements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Establish problem statements for assigned plant. Facilitate six sigma projects using FMEA, Pareto Analysis, Process Maps and Excel tools.
- Apply DMAIC approach to define problem, gather data to analyze process capability and other statistical constraints.
- Employ Tableau and R to understand and visualize data.
- Improve workflow management by error proofing inputs across departments.
- Define and structure the workflow on project at assigned plant.
- Create a current state process map in VISIO to identify baseline measurement metrics and opportunities for efficiency improvement.
- Collect data across departments through personal interviews. Analyze data using tools such as, but not limited to; Excel, Sigma Excel or Minitab and R to formulate measurement techniques using statistical analysis.
- Analyze data to check and validate data, process capability and stability through statistical analysis.
- Improve identified opportunities by using error proofing techniques, visual management involving, but not limited to, dashboards and Tableau.
- Increase visibility in organization through visual aids and ad hoc solutions.
- Stream productivity with plant as a measure and lean principles as tool to improve performance and decrease hidden wastes.
- Perform root cause analysis and present findings to management team.
- Partner with project team to identify and manage implementation of solutions.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or other engineering or science field of study.
- Knowledge of value stream mapping, data analysis, lean and six sigma experience.
