JOB SUMMARY:

Consolidate Precision Products (CPP-Syracuse) is currently seeking an experienced Casting Process Engineer to join our team! The Process Engineer’s function is to ensure control of the assigned manufacturing process(es). This includes implementing and sustaining necessary measuring and monitoring of the process, analysis of data, communication of process performance to the team, creation of recovery plans in the event of process drift and responding to problems encountered in the process. The Process Engineer, as process owner, should be continually looking for opportunities to improve the process and/or control of the process, as well as looking for new or replacement processes that have the potential to improve capability, quality, and cost.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Author and deploy required Work Instructions and other process related documentation needed to insure day to day execution and process control
  • Support Operations with day-to-day production challenges
  • Understand and support the shop floor Theory of Constraints (TOC) strategy
  • Identify and continuously improve statistical process control and data analytics for KPVs
  • Maintain routine interaction with operators to help ensure Work Instructions and other process related documents are understood and being executed correctly
  • Conduct “classroom” type training sessions as needed with members of the Operations team
  • Generate and execute continuous process improvement projects relating to the process / equipment / materials
  • Work with suppliers to improve the quality, cost, and effectiveness of required process consumables
  • Assist manufacturing engineers with equipment troubleshooting, upgrades, and PM schedules
  • Assist quality / metallurgy with root cause analysis on process-related deviations
  • Complete a cost reduction projects, using the Lean / Six-Sigma approach
  • Work closely with all departments to ensure organization objectives are achieved
  • Various other duties as assigned by Supervision

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: BS in Physics, Chemistry, Material Science, preferred. A strong background in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Metallurgy, or other similar engineering / science programs will be considered.
  • Experience: Foundry, investment casting, vacuum furnace processes preferred; knowledge of investment casting industry related to Aerospace and IGT products desired.
  • Certifications/Licenses: Lean Manufacturing / Six-Sigma Green-Black Belts preferred.
