DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Plant Process Engineer is responsible for the development, implementation and documentation of the manufacturing process. This is accomplished by facilitating the manufacture of all products through continuous improvement. Implements new processes to accommodate new product introduction or increased sales. Improves safety, reduces material waste, improves quality, increases output and decreases downtime to improve profitability. This role will support our Bryan, Texas location.

  • Designs the ability to produce a quality product into the process
  • Develop measurement systems required to measure facilities metrics or key process indicators
  • Identify and analyze manufacturing problems to control and improve manufacturing
  • Initiate, manage, and participate in Safety, Quality, Cost, and Process Control Improvement projects
  • Participates in the “team” process development concepts
  • Designs and/or sources equipment for manufacturing processes
  • Manages capital budget projects as assigned
  • Assists R & D effort to implement new products or process into production
  • Develops all necessary process and audit documentation (i.e. FMEAs Control Plans, Capability Studies, Balanced Line Capacity Models, Flow Analysis, etc.)
  • Assesses existing processes for areas of improvement utilizing Lean Manufacturing concepts (Kaizen, TPM, Value Stream Mapping, etc.) Six Sigma, designed experiment techniques, capability studies, etc
  • Design engineering project support from pre-launch to post-launch
  • Evaluates and recommends implementation of competitive technology
  • Leads, where applicable, or works in conjunction with plant maintenance to ensure that the facility and equipment are maintained and updated consistent with short- and long-term goals and objectives
  • Provides training, as required, to associates
  • Leads, where applicable, or works in conjunction with Quality Assurance, to monitor and document quality standards
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Use Six Sigma tools for, process capability studies, statistical process control determination, measurement systems analysis, and development of process controls systems

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technical Discipline or Business Administration or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • 2-5 years’ experience in Process/Manufacturing Engineering
  • Thorough knowledge of ASTM standards and industry specifications, production methods and practices, equipment capabilities, engineering drawing interpretations, reverse engineering abilities, measuring methods and systems, analytical and statistical thinking, technical writing skills, photographic documentation skills, measuring and testing development and protocol, field assessments and customer concern evaluations, gauge design and calibration procedure development/deployment/management
  • Experience with common measuring devices including calipers, micrometers, optical comparator, gauges, digital camera, and video cameras
  • Ability to lead process engineering projects using appropriate engineering tools
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft office applications required with excellent Excel and AutoCAD capabilities mandatory
  • Knowledge of Inventor and Minitab highly desired
  • Hydraulics knowledge and experience highly desired
  • Bilingual (Spanish speaking and writing ability) highly desired
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Critical Thinking/Problem Solving mindset
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage time effectively and re-prioritize tasks as business needs change
  • A positive and supportive team player who has worked well in cross functional teams
