SUMMARY

Our uniquely qualified Process Engineer report to the Director of Engineering and conduct innovative research, develop breakthrough technologies (AquaRefining™), and implement new processes, procedures, and equipment. This is all in support of Aqua Metals’ mission to provide sustainable metal recycling for materials strategic to energy storage applications and deliver raw material back into the manufacturing supply chain in a clean economical way that reduces overreliance on mining to meet demand.

This position will support Aqua Metal’s development of clean lithium-ion battery recycling processes. The Chemical Engineer will work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment partnering with operations, control, and chemistry departments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

· Work as process engineer for the design and scale-up of innovative hydrometallurgical recycling processes.

· Develop and maintain process flow diagrams, P&ID, process models, and simulations.

· Participate in the commissioning and operation of new hydrometallurgical recycling plants, including monitoring developments and troubleshooting.

· Ensure potential safety issues related to project operator, environment, the process, and the product are always considered.

· Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for existing and new systems

· Write and maintain technical reports and engineering documentation

· Develop simple and robust process controls and analytics.

· Liaison with cross-function team including project manager, procurement, construction manager, and operations manager

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education:

· Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mining or Electrochemical Engineering, or equivalent experience.

· 5 years of experience in related industry.

  • Previous experience either in a lab setting or a pilot plant setting, scaling products up from lab to pilot or from pilot to full-scale
  • Previous unit operations experience with solvent extraction, leaching, filtration, electrowinning, etc.

· Previous experience with Design of Experiments (DOE) preferred

· Ability to safely travel domestically and internationally; ability to meet all legal, safety, and other requirements for domestic and international travel. Must have valid passport.

· Additional language skills preferred/bi-lingual or multi-lingual (not required but a plus).

· SOFTWARE/HARDWARE: Microsoft Office suites; email, internet, adobe, etc., as well as varying specific company software platforms, simulation software; computer and other related office equipment.

Pay: $100,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift

Supplemental pay types:
