Job Description

Raytheon Intelligence and Space business unit is seeking a highly motivated, experienced software engineer to work on advanced concepts and advanced technology product development for aerospace and defense applications. Engineers in this technology space will join the advanced technologies part of engineering by working with a team of specialized engineers, researchers and scientists to rapidly develop breakthrough solutions to solve complex customer problems. The engineering work leverages state of the art and future technologies to develop unique solutions. This job is about invention. Typical job functions for the Principal Software Engineer:

• Participation on collaborative, cross-disciplined integrated product teams, often employing agile software development techniques and tools to plan, specify, design, develop, test, and integrate complex software and systems solutions.
• Collaborating effectively with other programs and senior technical contributors, in addition to producing planning and technical work products for internal and external customers to form original solutions to complex problems.
• The candidate is responsible for developing software requirements and FPGA level interface requirements derived from system level requirements, performing simulations and analysis and testing of the software in a laboratory setting.
• The candidate will work in an advanced product development team environment with system and software engineers.
• This position may require occasional business-related travel.

Essential attributes for this opportunity:

• Experience in software design, integration and test utilizing C, C++ and/or C# or similar languages.
• Experience with embedded microprocessor design, system on a chip software design, FPGAs, high-speed transceivers, DDR, flash memories, block diagrams, and signal analyses.
• Experience with the application of embedded Linux, Windows or bare metal operation systems real-time applications
• Lab experience in testing of products using logic analyzers, high-speed oscilloscopes, signal generators, and system on a chip debugging tools
• Experience with interfaces and bus standards such as: VME, PCI, PCIe, VPX, or Gb Ethernet
• U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a DoD Secret Clearance upon starting work.

Education:

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 7 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.

The salary range for this role is 103,000 USD - 215,000 USD; however, Raytheon Technologies considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.
