Department Overview
PG&E’s safety stand is that Everyone and Everything is Always Safe. The Enterprise Health and Safety (EHS) Department develops and implements programs that drive improved safety for our coworkers, contractors and hometowns. One of the programs in implementation currently is the PG&E Safety Excellence Management System (PSEMS). It’s 13 Elements provide the framework and the standard on which PG&E’s safety performance will be measured for years to come.

Position Summary
Develops company-wide policies, standards and procedures for the PG&E Safety Excellence Management System (PSEMS) and provides subject matter expertise on a variety of safety disciplines. Maintains knowledge of, interprets regulatory compliance with safety regulations, policies, and organizational safety programs. Establishes and maintains a matrix of owners for the Functional Divisions and the 13 PSEMS Elements. Leads PSEMS process improvement initiatives as needed. Partners with business units to implement PSEMS programs and advises business units by providing direction on the development of procedures to assist the organization. Oversees process and procedure development, implementation and communication.

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.

A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum: $136,000.00
Bay Area Maximum: $232,000.00
and/or
California Minimum: $​129,000.00
California Maximum: $220,000.00

Job Responsibilities
Implement and maintain the PG&E Safety Excellence Management System (PSEMS) in alignment with the True North Strategy Business Plan.
Maintains the Tactical Implementation plan in support of the Plan on a Page.
Lead the Management System Cycle and Management Review and ensure both are aligned with the Business Plan Deployment (BPD) process.
Develop policies, standards, procedures and manuals to drive PSEMS implementation.
Develops and delivers high-quality executive-level presentations on PSEMS and other programs.
Establish and maintain leading and lagging performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness and adequacy PSEMS.
Recognized subject matter expert who represents PG&E in regulatory and/or industry forums on subject of expertise.
Provides input on regulatory data requests, General Rate Case (GRC) and regulatory proceedings.
Leads major cross-functional projects and initiatives.
Coaches and mentors less experienced employees
Solves unique and complex problems, anticipating issues and developing innovative solutions.
Demonstrates strategic leadership with internal stakeholders to support Company goals.
Leads development of program goals and metrics to meet company goals and objectives.
Collaborates across organization to ensure alignment of goals to support program.
Responsible for utilizing other departments and teams to meet program goals.
Organize and lead cross-utility project teams to influence utility, regulatory and/or industry decisions.
Leads large statewide energy efficiency programs or efforts on behalf of PG&E to resolve issues and conflicts or to educate other parties.
Develops or provides significant input to PG&E leadership, other utilities with similar programs, industry and/or regulatory decision makers to influence marketplace and regulatory strategies impacting PG&E and its customers.

Qualifications

Minimum:
Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience
Job-related experience, 10 years

Desired:
Masters Degree in job-related discipline or equivalent experience
PMI-Project Management Institute PMP-Project Management Professional certification
Understanding of ISO 45001, ISO 55001, API 1173 and other industry standards
Significant experience rolling out an enterprise-wide safety program in a multi-commodity utility.
Understanding of safety management systems having been an Element lead or an owner in another company.
