Title: PrimeFit Personal Trainer and Fitness Instructor for Seniors
Department: Guest Services
Reports To: Guest Services Manager
FLSA Status: Non-exempt Exempt

Job Summary

This position is responsible for the development, implementation, and leadership of the PrimeFit program, department, and staff including:

  • Fostering a sense of true community while providing an array of purposeful fitness programs focused on each individual’s physical, mental, and social well-being.
  • Ensuring the PrimeFit program provides exceptional customer service reflecting the needs and desires of the residents of the community, prospective residents, and family members.
  • Providing leadership in line with company values.
  • Collaborating with Enhancement Program Supervisor to deliver diverse and interconnected well-being programming.
  • Participating, as an active member of the community’s management team in developing interconnected hospitality services.

Essential Job Functions

Service Development:

1. Develops PrimeFit programs that meet the needs of the residents and promote The Ackerly’s wellbeing customer focused culture.

2. Adheres to monthly-budgeted income goals.
3. Identifies program needs and assures resident satisfaction in the delivery programs such as

Yoga, Pilates, Tai Chi through effective recruiting and retention of instructors.
4. Delivers personal training services.
5. Successfully promotes PrimeFit programs to residents, families and the community.
6. Works collaboratively with the Infinity Health physical therapist.
7. Creates a positive, fun and safe atmosphere that promotes social, intellectual, emotional, spiritual and physical growth for older adults.

Risk Management:

1. Demonstrates knowledge of and complies with state/provincial regulations as they apply to older adult health and fitness and this job description.

2. Obtains certification as a Senior Fitness Instructor and maintains a certification of membership with ACE.

Customer Service:

1. Interacts in a positive, empathetic manner and with older adults, their families, referral sources, and the community at large. Identifies and responds to the resident’s needs in an appropriate manner.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

1. Demonstrates a comprehensive knowledge of:

  • Group fitness programming for older adults.
  • Teaching and leadership.
  • Injury/fall prevention, first aid and emergency procedures.
  • Ethics and professional standards.

2. Displays excellent customer service and communication skills.

3. Maintains a professional demeanor at all times.

4. Works both independently and collaboratively.

5. Demonstrates a warm, engaging, and patient manner.

6. Maintains company standard related to attendance, punctuality and dress code.

Education and Experience

Registration and training as a Senior Fitness Instructor with ACE or obtains this requirement within the first three (3) months of hire. Prior experience working with older adult groups.

Seeing: Must be able to read reports and use computer X

Hearing: Must be able to hear well enough to communicate with co-workers, residents. X

Standing/Walking/Mobility: Must be able to reach above his/her head and perform repetitive X movements on feet over long distances.
Climbing/Stooping/Kneeling: Must be able to bend to the floor. X

Lifting/Pulling/Pushing: Must be able to transfer up to 50 pounds X

Fingering/Grasping/Feeling: Must have finger dexterity to operate gym equipment. X

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 per hour
