Position Summary:

Reporting to the Medical Director, the Physician Primary Care/HIV has responsibility for direct patient care at the Codman Square Health Center, for managing continuity of care of health center patients under care and for participating in the administrative work of the Medical Department.

Primary Responsibilities:

• General
• Responsible for dictating charts, answering patients questions, calling consultants, completing all paperwork regarding the care of patients
• Providers may be required to provide regular coverage for Urgent Care as formally specified in the contract as part of clinical hours
• Participate in formal administrative meetings
• Additional department responsibilities are expected, including, but not limited to supervision of Physician Assistant’s and Nurse Practioner’s , coverage for absent physicians, involvement in staff evaluation, scheduling activities (call schedule, etc.), and other reasonable tasks determined by the Medical Director or Clinical Coordinators Teaching time will be created by reducing a Physician’s hours booked to see patients; The amount of the reduction will be negotiated on a task by task basis
• Attend all scheduled clinics
• Participate in on-call system developed in order to provide continuity of care to health center patients
• Understand and enforce personnel policies, clinical protocols, Patient Care Assessment and Quality Improvement (QI) Plan
• Physicians must maintain licensure and other privileges needed to practice medicine, participate in regular continuing medical education activities, and to cooperate with the Codman Square Health Center staff in maintaining privileges in all hospitals and managed care plans used by the Health Center

  • Assures that service standards, policies and procedures meet or exceed regulatory standards (JAHCO, DPH, MA Board of Nursing etc.)

  • Oversee duties and activities of PA’s
  • Delegates tasks to appropriate personnel

Must be Board certified; Ability to maintain professional manner in all formal patient and staff interactions
