Prepress Color and Retouching Technician
The Prepress Color and Retouching Technician processes customer-supplied electronic files, preparing them for print production with a primary focus on performing color manipulations, retouching, photo composition, color proofs, and printer-specific color corrections or modifications.
Responsibilities:
1. Review electronic job ticket for verification of job requirements (i.e.: printing method; stock; colors; finishing)
2. Retouch and manipulate digital images to customer, sales and project manager specifications
3. Evaluate and perform color correction in CMYK and RGB, matching color as necessary to designated files/visuals
4. Prepare, optimize, and convert files from RGB to CMYK, following client-specific workflows and protocols
5. Creating ink recipes to match supplied color targets, measure and visually evaluate the results, and adjust until the target color is met
Using electronic page layout software (desktop publishing software) manipulate the format of the print job to job specifications
Identify missing or problematic components and communicate them to the project manager, customer, and production personnel
Load customer supplied electronic files for output, onto the Pre-Press file server.
Properly record all time and materials in the MIS system
Maintain a neat and safe working environment
Adhere to Sandy Alexander's quality and environmental policies, procedures, goals, and objectives and comply with all safety and work rules when performing duties
Follow company and client security policy and asset management protocols
Complete and maintain all required checklists, paperwork, records, documents, etc., and maintain departmental housekeeping standards
Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers across the organization as well as internal and external clients
Requirements:
· Proven experience in a similar role
· Expert knowledge of color theory, ICC profiling and workflows, and print industry color standards
· Technical knowledge in the printing industry
· Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite with expert knowledge of Adobe Photoshop
· Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, expert color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment with schedule flexibility including overtime and weekends as needed
· Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; and talk, hear and see.
· Occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $38.00 - $42.00 per hour
