The Catered Affair (TCA), New England’s premier caterer, is seeking experienced prep cooks who are responsible, organized and professional to join our talented and dynamic team in our Boston.

TCA operates exclusively at the most prestigious venues in the region including the Boston Public Library, Harvard Art Museums, The Institute of Contemporary Art and, coming soon, The Boston Athenaeum. We are responsible for the day-to-day administration and operation of all food service at our exclusive venues in addition to producing and executing the most elite and prestigious weddings, galas, celebrations and corporate gatherings in New England.

POSITION PROFILE:

The prep cook assists in producing the food items that reflect company standards for quality and customer service in a consistent manner.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures consistent production of food items that create dining experiences to remember for all guests.
  • Ensures the menu items are exceptional in taste and presentation as designed and documented.
  • Ensure accurate amounts are produced according to production schedule.
  • Ensure all food sanitation codes are adhered to and monitored on a daily basis.
  • Maintain a high level of professional behavior within the kitchen.
  • Clean & sanitize all work table surfaces – including all sinks.
  • Clean & sanitize all equipment.
  • Organize prep list.
  • Communicate in a respectful manner, directions and information to all kitchen staff.
  • Cutting skills required
  • Following preparation instructions
  • Ensure daily and weekly prep item pars are met
  • As necessary and requested complete any duties needed to ensure achieving the mission of The Catered Affair.

PREREQUISITES/QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • Experience working in a high-end property or training from a respected culinary institution

JOB KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS REQUIRED

  • High awareness of food products and quality
  • High degree of uncompromised customer service orientation
  • A strong sense of urgency to ensure tasks are completed on time
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving and time management skills.
