We are seeking a qualified candidate to fill our expanding network of luxury auto dealerships in South Carolina. BAKER MOTOR COMPANY was founded in 1988 by Tommy B. Baker and is the largest privately held automobile dealer group headquartered in South Carolina.

Pre-Owned Sales Manager

Reports to: General Sales Manager / Dealer Group General Manager

Position Overview:

On a daily, monthly, and yearly basis he/she will ensure that the Pre-Owned units sold produce sufficient gross profit. In so doing, he/she will aid the Dealership in reaching its profit objectives.

Essential Duties:

  • Determine and communicate monthly and yearly forecasts in terms of unit sales, gross profits objectives, and departmental profit
  • Forecast monthly with each Sales Consultant to establish objectives in terms of the number and type of Customers, closing percentages in each category, time utilization, prospecting efforts, unit sales, and projected income
  • Make recommendations to the General Sales Manager for short and long-range advertising, sales promotions, staffing needs, lease promotions, compensation plans, Customer handling, Sales Consultant evaluations, and other operational issues
  • Meet with each Sales Consultant, each day, to review prior day's results and today's action or work plan
  • Conduct Sales Meetings
  • Provide ongoing training for Sales Consultants
  • Monitor Sales Consultant prospecting efforts and effectiveness
  • Manage vehicle inventory both online and on lot.
  • Monitors Dealership adherence to standards for displaying, merchandising, and maintaining vehicle displays
  • Ensure that all Sales Consultants offer a 100% turnover to Finance and Lease Department
  • Ensure that every prospect and Customer is thanked personally
  • Monitor DMS and other systems utilization in support of measurement and tracking of Dealership Retail Sales performance

Other Qualifications:

Ability to comprehend written and verbal instructions. Minimum of five years of automotive sales experience. One year in a Dealership management position. Professional personal appearance. Excellent communication skills. Verifiable references for management skills.

Working Conditions:

The Sales Manager works both indoors and out, moving throughout the Dealership facility and vehicle displays to communicate with the Dealer, fellow Managers, Sales Consultants, and Customers. Weekends, evenings, and occasional holiday hours may be required and are market driven. Must be able to physically operate a vehicle as shipped by the manufacturer in a safe manner as required by inventory management responsibilities.

Our dealer group now consists of thirteen automotive manufacturers, an in-house Reconditioning Center, an in-house Auto Glass company, and a full service USAA and State Farm Insurance-approved Collision Repair Center.
