About the Opportunity

The Nelson Laboratory in the Neuroscience Department and Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute at West Virginia University seeks a productive and highly motivated individual interested in neuroscience-biological rhythms interactions. Current studies make use of molecular/cellular approaches to circadian influences on pain regulation and control. One goal of the research program is to understand the role of disrupted circadian rhythms on pain responses.

What you’ll do:

  • The successful candidate will participate in a number of exciting projects in the areas of circadian-brain-behavior regulation
  • The priority is given to recent graduate applicants with a PhD or applicants that are expected to graduate from a Neuroscience PhD program.
  • Applicants to have at least 1-3 circadian rhythms-related published articles.
  • In addition to conducting experiments, the duties of the positions will include reading and knowing the relevant literature
  • Help with training graduate and undergraduate trainees in the laboratory
  • Attending and presenting at scientific meetings and writing fellowships and manuscripts.
  • Required to work in collaboration with other researchers in and outside the laboratory.
  • Should know PCR, tumor tissue culture, microscopic analytical, and general molecular and cellular biological techniques.


Qualifications

  • PhD Or MD/PhD
  • 1-2 first-authored papers.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Familiar with techniques such as r flow cytometry, cell isolation, tissue culture, ELISA, RT-PCR, microscopic analyses, Western blotting techniques, and animal handling.
