PORTFOLIO PROJECT MANAGER (PPM)

Job Summary:

​The Portfolio Project Manager (PPM) is responsible for assigned projects execution, related activities coordination and subsequent completion following the PMO Methodology. Serves as liaison between all technology resources and the Bank's Business and Support Units. Is also responsible for identifying, controlling, and managing all project risks and for the strategic management of portfolio components, assuring all technology resources are aligned to the business priorities and strategies to achieve the organizational objectives. This position authorizes and manages portfolio components relationships and dependencies, as well as overall integration and issues resolution; defines problem solving and risk mitigation strategies and facilitate conflict resolution through the full project cycle. Oversees the compilation and analysis of project activity and delivery of statistical data/reports on a project's progress. After project completion, performs several timely objective reviews with key stakeholders to ensure project success. The PMO Manager is directly responsible for the supervision and performance management of Portfolio Project Manager (PPM).

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for overall project definition, management, and delivery thru the direct supervision of Project Managers (PM's), starting from the requirements gathering and package evaluation and selection, up-to the eventual deployment and transition to production support.
  • Translates business requirements into functional specifications in collaboration with design and technical resources to provide insight during solution development.
  • Distributes responsibilities, supervises, and evaluates performance of Project Managers (PM's) while enforces the compliance of business regulations, deadlines, and goals.
  • Drives desirable projects outcome by building appropriate relationships with clients and collaborating with key stakeholders and business users to map out and document business requirements.
  • Responsible for managing all project risks, escalating issues to top management when necessary.
  • Assures full adherence to PMO methodology to guarantee compliance with all internal control units (internal audit, risk assessment and compliance) as well as external regulating entities.
  • Responsible for the management of the Business Case Document for assigned projects, by which Capital Projects Budgets are approved by management.
  • Responsible for all project associated Vendor Management and Selection activities, including contract terms and conditions reviews, pricing negotiation.
  • Responsible for coordination with IT resources management, for Capital Projects as well as small maintenance requests, assuring all efforts assigned to the Business Lines are aligned to the Business Strategy and priorities.
  • Responsible for all project documentation ie Minutes, Timelines, Scope, Charter etc. as required. Communications at all levels, reporting progress, delays, and issues to all levels of the project teams, from Business Executives down to line employees involved in the project within the established PMO Quality Standards.
  • Responsible for managing the Capital Projects budget.
  • Responsible for managing the Change Management process to assure project scope changes that may lead to delays or incremental costs are controlled.
  • Coordinates and serve as liaison with project sponsors and other managers facilitating suitable public relations for managed projects.

Independence of Judgment:

The degree of judgment is related to compilation and presentation of information, data interpretation and or presentation of possible recommendations, the identification and definition of new problems of high to moderate complexity. Also is related to the continuous analysis of specialized and complex subjects.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has direct supervisory responsibilities over the Project Managers (PM's) as per assigned.

  • Strong Interpersonal Skills
  • Strong Communication skills, both written and verbal - English and Spanish
  • Proficient in the Following Tools: MS Project Online, Visio, Word, Excel, Power Point among others.
  • Teamwork oriented
  • Strong Analytical Skills
  • Self-directed and self-motivated with the ability to work in a fast paced environment and efficiently manage multiple tasks, projects and priorities.
  • Capable of leading Projects Status Meetings and Management Steering Committees.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Project Management or Engineering related fields i.e. Industrial Engineering. Master's Degree is desirable. The incumbent must have a minimum of five years of similar experience including increasing responsibilities managing complex and multiple projects, and client/vendor relationship management. PMP Certification Preferable. Strong Knowledge of IT Operations and System development within the Banking Industry is highly desirable.
