This temporary position will develop analysis, plans, data, and reports to support the Program Management Office (PMO) and its customers.


Job Description


Under the general direction of the IT PMO Portfolio Management & Support supervisor, the IT Project/Business Analyst manages multiple functions. Duties include a variety of analysis and coordination activities needed to support managing the portfolio of enterprise IT Projects. The position will be a resource that provides technical leadership for services such as project intake, new project set-up, support and training for the project management community, and project portfolio reporting. In addition, the position may lead requirements development and analysis efforts and assessment of the fit of solutions to meet requirements.

Duties Include

  • Provide Project and Portfolio Management (PPM) tools support for the project management community, project stakeholders and PMO management. Develop procedures, training plans and knowledge base to support both the tools and reports, and the generation of the data being reported.
  • Research and clarify IT project proposals, initiatives, and business needs statements
  • Assist with the project intake and project portfolio governance processes
  • Lead early-stage IT projects, particularly in the development of Project Charters and initial Project Management Plan deliverables
  • Participate in project teams as the analyst responsible for Requirements and other business-oriented deliverables, as part of a larger project effort.
  • Participate in other assigned projects

Qualifications


Required Before Applying

  • Education
    • An associate degree in computer science or a closely related field from an accredited college or university
      OR
    • Its equivalent in terms of total course credits/units
      • At least sixty (60) semester or ninety (90) quarter credits/units with a minimum of twenty (20) semester or thirty (30) quarter credits/units in computer science or a closely-related field
  • Experience
    • One (1) year* in the information systems field, including technical support, content management, administration of network applications or system analysis
      • One year of full-time employment is equivalent to 2,000 hours of work experience (2,000 hours of qualifying work experience is based on a 40-hour work week). Any overtime hours that you work above 40 hours a week are not included in the calculation to determine full-time employment
  • Education Substitution
    • Additional experience as described above may be substituted for the required degree on a year-for-year* basis (up to a maximum of two (2) years)
      • One (1) year is equivalent to thirty (30) semester units / forty-five (45) quarter units with a minimum of 10 semester / 15 quarter units in computer science or a closely related field

Desirable Qualifications

  • CAPM, Lean, and Scrum certifications
  • Strong business and technical writing skills, organizational skills, and team facilitation capabilities
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relations with others and provide excellent service to customers
  • Experience delivering IT projects using project management methods, templates, and frameworks
  • Experience with business requirements analysis, information systems development, implementation, and support
  • Knowledge of data analytics and reporting
  • Knowledge and experience in working with all products in the Microsoft Suite – Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Teams, SharePoint
