Summary:

The Parkersburg Chemical Operation produces calcium chloride by reacting hydrochloric acid with chemical grade limestone. Calcium Chloride liquid is then filtered and stored in 1 of 4 storage tanks. There are three different grades of calcium chloride tech, prime and food grade.

Essential Duties & Responsibilties:

The C operator - entry level is a training position that can last 6 months to a year. Once repeated demonstration of knowledge, Skill and productivity the promotion to B operator is made. Performs the following job duties and Responsibilties:

• Actively participates in the BBO process
• Attends safety meetings
• Attends safety training sessions at plant site
• Knowledgeable with safe work practices and safety rules and policies
• Calcium chloride truck and railcar loading
• Hydrochloric acid railcar offloading
• Loading limestone hopper
• Filter press cleaning

Education:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred but not essential.

Drivers License:

This position requires a valid Driver's license be maintained in good standing.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to complete inspection forms. Ability to speak adequately to communicate with supervisors and co-workers.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add and subtract numbers and to multiply and divide. Ability to apply concepts of basic mathematics.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee works near guarded moving mechanical parts. The employee routinely works in outside weather conditions with periods of extreme heat in the summer months and extreme cold in the winter months.
