Responsibilities:
Job Description:

Performs assignments associated with operating the wastewater treatment plant and to ensure a compliant supply of waste water meeting federal/state regulations in Newton County, Georgia. Supervises; water analysis and treatment; mixing chemicals; laboratory testing; operating various pumps and valves; repairing and maintaining machinery and equipment; maintaining records, working as a team with assigned staff. Lead assignments made on a job-by-job basis would be more appropriate at the Senior level. Work is performed under the supervision of the WWTP Director and his/her designee- direction received is very general and focuses on end results and is typically collaborative in nature.

Duties:
  • Generate work order in maintenance management system.
  • Unload and load trucks.
  • Sampling
  • Work directly with Operations Director regarding equipment repairs and inventory.
  • Responsible for maintaining and exceeding Federal and State law requirements.
  • Must be Team oriented.
  • Prepares reports, logs, and records on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
  • Controls treatment processes, chemical dosages, and equipment used to purify, treat, and clarify water for discharge at industrial and commercial discharge levels.
  • Assist in performing a variety of laboratory test to determine the chemical composition of water and to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations for industrial wastewater: COD, BOD, pH, TSS, and Metals.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality where needed.
  • Must be able and willing to work overtime to include on-call and sudden emergencies.
Qualifications:
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, science, chemistry or related field preferred but not required.
  • 5 or more years in a wastewater treatment plant.
  • 2 or more years supervisory experience.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Industrial Wastewater License - Class III preferred.
  • Certified to operate a forklift.
  • Vacuum Truck experience desirable.

Requirements:
  • Must be able to successfully pass the required physical.
  • Must be able to successfully pass the required drug screen.
  • Must be able to lift 50-75 pounds on a routine basis as required by this position.
  • Must be able to pass a Criminal and Motor Vehicle background check.
  • Must be able to work in the elements. (i.e., cold, hot, and wet environment.)
  • Must be able to work 50-60 hours, or more, a week as required by this position.
  • Must be willing and able to work on weekend days (Saturday and/or Sunday) as needed.
  • Must be willing and able to work 7 days a week, for multiple weeks, if or when needed as required by this position.
