Pearl River Pastry/Abe’s Vegan Muffins is seeking a bilingual, self-directed, and hands-on Plant Manager to lead its Middletown, NY baking facility and provide leadership support, as required, to our facility in West Nyack, NY.

This is a critical leadership position in the Company and reports to the VP of Operations.

Primary responsibility: Manage workforce of approximately fifty while meeting production, quality, safety, and process improvement goals. Direct reports include supervisors in production, packaging, warehouse, maintenance, and quality. Additional project responsibilities impacting both of our manufacturing sites as assigned.

Essential Job Functions

• Responsible for all aspects of operations and achieving key performance measurements related to personnel safety, quality and food safety, service, and cost, while continually improving process reliability and performance.

· Provide ongoing evaluation and root cause/corrective action to performance of facility versus plan utilizing continuous improvement methodology, consistently engage in improvement initiatives to maximize facility efficiencies and effectiveness.

· Ensures excellent service to our customers.

· Adept at developing business metrics to ensure control and provide a baseline for improvement.

· Successfully manage controllable expenses based on business volume, including labor, food costs, and distribution expenses.

· Conduct daily Gemba walks with leadership team to evaluate production outcomes and empower associates.

· Function as a servant-leader by empowering facility leadership team to “learn by doing”.

· Consistently provide coaching feedback to team regarding successes and opportunities.

· Promote a positive work environment by championing recognition and celebration, ongoing associate communication, and proactive employee relations.

· Ensure that all Food Safety Management Act requirements are met and exceeded.

· Ensure that all GMPs are followed without exception; providing corrective action and counseling when gaps are identified.

· In partnership with functional leaders, provide feedback for improvement opportunities in HR, Food Safety, Sanitation, and production best practices.

· Provide leadership, as assigned, in improvement projects impacting both of our manufacturing sites.

Qualifications and Experience

· MUST be bilingual - English/Spanish

· Completion of 4 year degree – Engineering, Business, Food Science or Culinary

· 3+ years of successful, hands on, leadership experience within a food manufacturing environment, preferably within the baking or related industry

· Demonstrated ability to supervise and mentor both hourly production and salaried associates

· Good working knowledge of bakery production equipment such as mixers, dividers, rounders, proofers, etc.

· Working knowledge of process controls and industry standards.

• Demonstrated knowledge of SQF, HACCP, GMP, allergen, & traceability and other compliance requirements of a commercial bakery.

· Willingness and ability to resolve problems

· Positive and professional communication and customer service skills. Ensure capabilities to meet market needs and support profitable growth of the products produced by the facility.

· Competent in computer knowledge – accustomed to working in an MS Office environment and competent in Excel

· Willingness and ability to work hours as required

· Good Organization and Time Management Skills

Essential Physical Requirements

The following physical requirements must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation. The work environment requires tolerance to variations in temperature, wet conditions in washroom area, exposure to food products, and manufacturing equipment that includes a variety of controls and mechanisms.

· Ability to:

o Manipulate equipment utilizing manual dexterity

o Stand, walk, squat, and sit for long periods of time

o Understand written and verbal instructions

o Push and lift items with varying degrees of weight.

o Perform repetitive motion movements with upper extremities

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
